Lagos APC Appoints Ikorodu City FC President Sanmi Doherty To Campaign Council The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed the President of Ikorodu City Football Club, Mr Sanmi Doherty, as a member of its Mobilisation Sub-Committee on Sports ahead of the 2027 general elections. The appointment forms part of the party’s constitution of its Campaign Council and various sub-committees tasked with driving grassroots mobilisation and facilitating strategic engagement across different sectors of the state. Mr Doherty, the founder and president of Ikorodu City FC, a club competing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), is a sports administrator and entrepreneur known for his involvement in football development, youth engagement and sports business in Lagos State. His inclusion in the Sports Mobilisation Sub-Committee reflects the party’s intention to engage stakeholders in the sports sector as part of its broader mobilisation efforts ahead of the elections. The sub-committee is expected to coordinate sports-related engagement and outreach initiatives across Lagos State’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), in line with the campaign council’s objectives. Mr Doherty’s appointment also highlights the intersection between sports administration, youth engagement and community participation in the state’s political activities.
