Museums and *sometimes* archaeologists will call private collectors/hobbyists selfish or immoral for simply possessing artifacts or historical items deemed *rare*, claiming history belongs to everyone and deserves to be shared in public eye. Yet these same institutions will auction off Indigenous artifacts to other countries, leave things sitting in drawers never to be seen again or just toss things out altogether exactly like this. I have one of the largest collections of radiological history in private hands unintentionally because I wouldn’t let other people destroy items or send them off to be destroyed just because something was sometimes radioactive and they didn’t want to deal with it. I fully will dedicate the rest of my life to this mission to make sure that when I die they still exist to at least be passed on. Even if there is not a plan for them other than just me for now, at least they are still here because I wouldn’t let someone else toss them. You can be your own museum. I think more people should do exactly this even, preserving history is a worthwhile purpose in life feeling and legitimate cause.
