Poland’s constitutional crisis in brief: A 'far-right', pro-NATO government flooded our highest court with loyalists. Now, a 'center-right', pro-NATO government is replacing those appointees with its own loyalists. Each accuses the other of being ‘communist’.

Americans be like "Check out this data showing U.S. economic dominance" and it's a chart that says "Real output per worker" but then in the fine print it really says "Productivity in tech, finance, and professional services," and the line suddenly starts going up in March 2020.

The use of superforecasters in the AI debates is fascinating. This post relies heavily on the predictions from five working at an AI safety think tank. A prior post (astralcodexten.com/p/the-ext…) largely discounted the predictions of many generalist superforecasters. In research design, this is called selecting on the dependent variable.
If you read any blog post on AI safety from this year, make it be this one

Worth reading the actual FT piece by @jburnmurdoch. His conclusion is that the US jump is mostly the tech sector (not finance or professional services), it starts in 2022 (before AI agents were available), and it comes from flat or falling headcount, not rising output.
Meta, Alphabet and Microsoft cut staff after rate hikes. So less “AI miracle”, more that the US labour market is much more flexible and reacts to changes much faster.
I also made a similar chart for CEE countries, just for fun.
