According to the Monthly Treasury Statement, the federal government collected $5.4 trillion and spent $7.4 trillion. The U.S. is spending $1.37 for every $1 collected. That deficit has accumulated to $1.99 trillion in fiscal year 2026.

Our director @JpCortez27 went on @SmarterGameShow to explain that government edicts cannot make unsound money sound. Gold & silver stand the test of time as sound money, not because politicians say so but because markets recognize their value and unique properties.

It costs 4 cents to make a penny. This is a practical move. It is also quiet recognition that 1 cent is no longer useful as a unit of account. The penny was inflated out of existence.
Republicans and Democrats agree: it's time to retire the penny. 🤝 It costs nearly 4¢ to make a single cent, and taxpayers foot the bill. Thank you @SenGillibrand, @SenatorLankford and @RonWyden for helping me pass the Common Cents Act. My predecessor, Sen. Mike Enzi, began this work in 2017. Proud to finish it.

Fed minutes, released 10/7: participants worry that after “more than five years of inflation above 2 percent,” it “could begin to affect” expectations. A dollar saved in 2020 only buys about 77 cents today. What about the purchasing power that has been lost in those 5 years?

Did you know SMDL Exec. Director @JpCortez27 was featured on @RonPaul's Liberty Report? Jp joined Dr. Paul to discuss the history of gold and silver as money, how states can facilitate the use of gold and silver, and the impact that Dr. Paul's teachings have had.

A HUGE congratulations to one of the most steadfast defenders of constitutional sound money in Washington, @judyshel. Few in DC have made the case for gold and silver the way Dr. Shelton has. Her recent book, Good as Gold, underscores the urgency for honest money. That insight now has a home in the Treasury. Thank you for carrying this torch for so long, Dr. Shelton. Your new position is well deserved.
BREAKING NEWS: JUDY SHELTON HAS JOINED THE U.S. TREASURY DEPARTMENT AS COUNSELOR TO THE SECRETARY. Judy has spent decades thinking deeply about monetary policy, sound money, gold, and the architecture of the global financial system. To now see her bringing those ideas and that experience into discussions at the highest levels of the U.S. Treasury is incredibly exciting. My conversation with Judy on The Gold Telegraph will always be one of the highlights of my career. Beyond her extraordinary intellect, she is thoughtful, gracious, and deeply committed to the ideas she believes in. Full documentary: youtu.be/USGjSU5yXh8?si=999H… Congratulations, my friend. Very well deserved. @judyshel

NOW: House Speaker Mike Johnson criticizes the Biden-Harris administration over inflation, saying it was 1.4% when President Trump left office before rising to a 40-year high of 9.1% under Biden. Johnson says bringing inflation back down "takes a long time."
