I was prototyping coding flight controls for a game I want to make inspired by Wii Sports Resort’s Island Flyover, so I thought to myself “what better place to test things out to than Wuhu Island itself?” Untextured from a model I found online but I think it serves its purpose.

This is a genuine question for UI/UX designers in the game industry? Why did drop down menus for FPS games sort of go away? Is there a reason everything is shifting towards horizontal scrolling? I want to learn why

If Hello Games, a developer of around 50 people, are able to continue with adding content to No Man's Sky, eight whole years after launch, without any microtransactions at all, then Microsoft and Halo Studios clearly can do the same with MCC. They're simply choosing *not* to.
Was watching UberNick and he was watching a video on the digsite stuff and something he brought up was how we’re all quick to point fingers but we never offer solutions. Would everyone have been OK with micro transactions in MCC if it meant it help paid the digsite team?

states putting more protections for ceos based on one shooting compared to the nothing they do to protect students from school shooters is insane to me

Art is for those who have a story to tell, desire to be heard, and to be respected. AI art is for those who like the idea of having a story to tell without telling the story and expect to be respected. Change my mind.

If every big AAA IP did this I would not be upset. I would be the opposite, in fact. It’s a pretty good idea studios should at least try out instead of crashing out on massive AAA releases.
Replying to @puppycelebrity
i’m fine with smaller games like in between the big AAA masterpieces

Hey friends, I just lost my job—I’m looking for new work! See a thread of my work below 🧵 I’m an artist and programmer. As an art director I’ve lead art teams on projects for Netflix, Apple, Sony, and more. If you’d be so kind, please share this to get the word out!

This is honestly insane to see. We run our gamejams through itch.io. This is actually the cross-section of two of my most disliked things. AI and Funkopop. What a time to be alive.
I kid you not, @itchio has been taken down by @OriginalFunko because they use some trash "AI Powered" Brand Protection Software called @BrandShieldltd that created some bogus Phishing report to our registrar, @iwantmyname, who ignored our response and just disabled the domain

I shit you not, I’ll never understand why anybody would collect those things. It’s not my business what you spend your money on but holy crap you can surely spend it something better. I legit ignore the entire Funko section whenever I hit a pop culture store. Shit’s ass.

Today I’ve realized that I am not obligated to use a service if I do not wish to use it anymore. I have freedom of choice. In other words, catch you on the flipside, where the skies are bluer and the grass is greener.

Snippet of a song from a game jam with my friends at Shenandoah University! Their new facility, the “HIVE”, is super cool. My buddies made cool 3D models and environments that inspired this song. Thank you @IZZY_S0L for the sweet album art!!! #music #synth #scifi #ableton

More methods of moving your raft are planned and in progress, but even those two are enough to help you blast, strafe, spin, and crash your way to victory.

I was the main designer at 2 companies. And each had a boss man who would just roll up and say I love everything here, but how about we do *something else* and oftentimes it was a terrible idea that derailed my designs/roadmap. Those are the people who ruin games.
On most AAA, devs have barely the decision of the kind of game they want to do. Execs and investors lead the project into the genre that is the most profitable, sometimes despite any common sense (market too crowded for exemple) A fail does not mean the devteam is incompetent.

Hot take: I don't think we should celebrate it when tone deaf executives get to keep their jobs while the devs that slaved away at a project that went through development hell for 8 years are let go. Yes, you didnt like the game. Aim the hate at the right people.
Concord is going offline beginning September 6th blog.playstation.com/2024/09… "However, while many qualities of the experience resonated with players, we also recognize that other aspects of the game and our initial launch didn’t land the way we’d intended. Therefore, at this time, we have decided to take the game offline beginning September 6, 2024, and explore options, including those that will better reach our players. While we determine the best path ahead, Concord sales will cease immediately and we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased the game for PS5 or PC. If you purchased the game for PlayStation 5 from the PlayStation Store or PlayStation Direct, a refund will be issued back to your original payment method. Customers who purchased from other digital storefronts will also be refunded. More information about refunds from Steam and Epic can be found below:"
