RIP @AlexTestria . I only talked to him a bit, but he was amazing at creating packs of incredible quality.
Please check out BrickCraft if possible; it is amazingly designed. modrinth.com/resourcepack/br…

Massive thanks to douira (douira.dev/) for the translucency sorting implementation. They have made a whole thesis on their novel implementation of translucency sorting in Minecraft.

For the love of god just use an early return.
if (score >= 90) return "A";
if (score >= 80) return "B";
if (score >= 70) return "C";
if (score >= 60) return "D";
return "F";
Stop overcomplicating it.

If you're new to shaders, you shouldn't start with something complex like god rays, procedural generation or fluid sim.
Your first 5 shaders should probably be:
-Color invert: Invert the RGB color channels
-Desaturate: Average the RGB to get approximate brightness
-Motion blur: Sample a few pixels in a line and average the color
-Posterize: Round RGB color to the nearest 0.2 or 0.1.
-Noise: Generate some pseudo-random white noise using sine or int-hashes.

I plan to release my physics engine datapack on Saturday. It'll be my first Minecraft creation on YouTube in four and a half years. Keep an eye out!

The datapack is up to 4905 commands. Honestly, that's less than I thought it'd take to simulate 3D rigid body physics so accurately. With everything else implemented, it only took about 10 commands to add Buoyancy.
