There really is so much to love in those first two seasons of The Mandalorian. The pilot episode is an incredible introduction to the post RoTJ era of Star Wars. The episode where Mando has to battle Jawas is pure, campy fun. Chapter 3, The Sin characterises Din Djarin so well through clever use of the Kuleshov effect and delivers some great action. Then Bryce Dallas Howard uses the familiar sight of an AT-ST to make it a giant monster from the woods in the show's fourth episode. Throughout the entire first Season, Werner Herzog continues to pop back up and is so damn entertaining every single time. Then season 2 starts with Cobb Vanth's episode, my favourite of the entire series, just incredibly fun from start to finish. Not much later, the first appearance of Bo-Katan fits perfectly into the context of the show and puts her into a position where she really gets to shake Din Djarin's most fundamental beliefs. Bill Burr gets an entire episode dedicated to his throwaway character from Season 1 and delivers the best performance in the series. Finally, Luke Skywalker shows up, and I know most people don't like this moment anymore, but to me it's just an incredible ending for this story. A fantastic run for Star Wars television. As Tony Gilroy constantly reminds us: without the success of these two seasons, Andor would never have existed. It's so good it paved the way for everything that we have been getting these last few years, for better and for worse.
