Hey NYC serious idea, perfectly functioning cruise ships are being sold off for scrap metal due to weak demand. Why can't we get a few to park them in NYC and create housing for the homeless and let social workers and nonprofits do their thing? Seriously.

Innovation creates benefits that extend far beyond the innovator. Cheaper access to space, for instance, helps researchers and entrepreneurs who will never meet Elon Musk. Better batteries help consumers who will never own a Tesla. Satellite communications serve people whose lives may depend on reliable connections. The resulting gains can continue accumulating for generations.

Obama made DEI the most important policy of his 8 years with the deliberate intent of turning non-racist, non-misogynist young white men into racist misogynists as a means of self defense against the discrimination he imposed on them. Basically, we have a generation of young white men who decided "If everyone is going to discriminate against us, we need to band together and get tribal like everybody else." That's a rational choice, but it's also succumbing to evil. Obama succeeded. It's one of the worst things that has ever happened to the USA.

Why are universities charging students $200,000+ for a degree? There's no justification for that. We need to prop up our future generation, not handicap them. The traditional model is coming to an end.

Data center bans would crush economic growth, says Cato's @ts_fisher. A better way to prevent higher utility bills is to make data centers pay the full cost of their electricity infrastructure or allow them to build new, private grids.

About 2 to 3 of every 1,000 children in the United States are born with detectable hearing loss. Research has shown that identifying hearing loss early, and beginning language and other interventions as soon as possible, can make a meaningful difference in a child’s development. That is why advances in hearing research are so important. At NIH’s National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), decades of scientific discovery have helped deepen our understanding of hearing and helped advance solutions across the continuum of care. Beyond early detection, NIDCD research has also helped advance technologies such as cochlear implants, which can provide access to sound for people with severe or profound hearing loss. Continued investment in NIH hearing research can help drive the next generation of discoveries and technologies to improve the quality of life of babies born with hearing loss.

Filmed immediately before the riots in France, this is an astonishingly prescient interview.
The looming catastrophe in the West is, in part, due to academics coming up with seemingly plausible reasons for asinine ideas. Philosopher Jean-François Braunstein, blacklisted for defending science, joins me for a conversation.

When students believe America deserved 9/11, we must ask what exactly our universities are teaching them.
A new Buckley Institute survey finds only 65 percent of undergraduates are proud to be American, and well over one in five believe America deserved the September 11th attack. @Ayaan on how universities are teaching contempt for the country that gives students the chance to pursue the American dream: URL: ayaan.restoringthewest.com/u… #RestoringTheWest #September11th #HigherEducation

Fascinating that even though Democrats swept last night, progressive policies like boys in girls sports and wealth taxes were still rejected in several states. It tells you that this is more of an anti status quo election, not necessarily pro progressive policies. We’ll see if Dems are paying attention

Don't hand over your mind and nerves to the political stress merchants. Nothing would delight them more. They know exactly what to do with basket cases -- empty them completely -- so please make sure not to be one.

When people hear the word “monopoly,” they often think of large technology companies. Yet some of the most significant barriers to innovation exist at the local level. - Local electric utilities often exploit regulations to block innovations like rooftop solar and micro-grids. - Car dealership franchise laws restrict direct-to-consumer automobile sales, making it more difficult for new manufacturers to enter the market. - Occupational licensing requirements affect roughly one-fifth of American workers, creating barriers to entry that limit competition. When established interests use regulation to shield themselves from competition, they slow technological adoption and reduce economic growth. humanprogress.org/escaping-t…

Historically, improvements in working conditions—such as labor standards, limits on working hours, and minimum wages—have often been pioneered by employers and their employees, and only later mandated by governments. Government officials also often take credit for outcomes that markets already produced. Remote work is the latest example. humanprogress.org/evolving-m…

Great books are not just for grown-ups. Introduce children to the classics early. Western civilization's greatest stories belong to them, too.
Children deserve more than See Spot Run. The Iliad, the Odyssey, the Aeneid, Beowulf, and Shakespeare all have retellings they can enjoy now and prepare them for the originals later. @jarobinson1 on six children's retellings of Western classics: URL: ayaan.restoringthewest.com/w… #RestoringTheWest #Books #Classics

The big wrong turn, as I see it, was the vast cultural and spiritual shift that came of defining ourselves by our pasts, our injuries, instead of by our destinies, our potentials. The idea became to repair, repair, not to prepare and strive. Therapy overtook destiny. "Don't look back." An ancient warning, ignored. But we are not the sum of what's happened to us, as individuals or groups; we are the carriers of what is possible for us -- as we divine it and go out to meet it. Instead of obsessing on its own roots a tree should grow toward the sun.
