April is calving season on our farm, and it kicked off last weekend. We believe in a short calving period for an easier farming life - we’re over a third of the way through with 12 on ground, so they should all done by early May. #Offaly #OrganicFarming #Beef #PippasFarmingFiles

Lloua gyrfaod ar 1kg o haidd cartref 👌🏻 Bull calves on 1kg of home grown feed, keeping them gaining and help with transition to housing. We don’t creep pre weaning only introduce feed after weaning whilst still out on 🍀. #sucklerbeef #ultimatecow @StabiliserBeef @leachmancattle

Bull calves weaned, backs trimmed, wormed and pneumonia vaccinated. An important KPI (key performance indicator) that we aim for is for the cows to wean 50% of their body weight in a calf. E.g 600kg cow weaning a 300kg calf. In a tough season these cows and bull calves did 49.8%.
