Bitcoin moved ~25%.
$STX more than doubled.
#1 on CMCโs 7D gainers.
#2 on the 30D list.
People are asking why.
I think theyโre asking the wrong question.
The real question is:
Thatโs where Stacks gets interesting.
Last cycle, $STX was mostly the โBitcoin betaโ trade. BTC moved, STX moved harder.
Then the bear market came. STX/BTC got crushed to ~300 sats.
But the builders kept building.
Now Bitcoin staking is becoming real.
BTC stays on Bitcoin L1.
You keep custody.
STX plays a role.
And you can target BTC-denominated yield.
That changes the thesis.
$STX isn't just a token that pumps when BTC pumps anymore.

And after a 100%+ week, itโs still around a ~$500M market cap.
Iโm not chasing the candle.
Iโm watching the bigger shift:

What are we predicting these days? I need exciting prediction right here right now on @StacksMarketApp
Excite me, Iโll wait.
Stacks opens the first Bitcoin protocol bond on September 10
Enrollment for the @Stacks Genesis Bond begins at Bitcoin block 966,350, letting holders earn BTC-denominated yield while their coins stay on Bitcoin's base layer under their own keys. No wrapping, no bridging, no custody transfer.
Participants pair $STX worth roughly 5% of their BTC position for a six-month term targeting 3% APY, funded by miner bids rather than new token issuance.

The Stacks community is actively shaping a clearer STX mission: attract and compound Bitcoin capital, but also turn it into real applications, users, businesses, and economic activity.
My new version after the discussion:
Make Stacks the open Bitcoin economy where capital is deployed and Bitcoin-powered applications are used by people, businesses, and agents worldwide.
Capital brings gravity. Applications bring users. Together, they create a powerful economy.
In short, STX should empower the Bitcoin Economy
I shared a framework for how @Stacks Bitcoin Capital Markets can become the foundation, not the limit, of the broader Bitcoin economy. ๐

I love seeing the community shape this together, thank you Muneeb!
I think Bitcoin Capital Markets is the clearest category and the strongest immediate wedge. But it should serve a larger mission, not become the limit of the vision.
Perhaps the complete framework is:
Category: Stacks is the Bitcoin Capital Market.
Promise: Institutional-grade Bitcoin rails, open to EVERYONE.
Mission: Make Stacks the open Bitcoin economy where capital is deployed and Bitcoin-powered applications are used by people, businesses, and agents worldwide.
That mission brings together the strongest ideas form the discussion:
- Open and accessible to everyone.
- Productive Bitcoin capital.
- Applications with real utility.
- People, businesses, and agents.
- Global ambition.
The North Star should therefore measure both BTC capital deployed and real economic activity created. This last part is very important.
Capital brings gravity. Applications bring users. Together, they create a powerful economy.
In short, STX should empower the Bitcoin Economy

The real challenge for Stacks may not be who tells the story, but whether the ecosystem has a clear enough story to tell. I shared my thoughts, and a direct question for @muneeb, on what the mission should be now: institutional Bitcoin DeFi, mass consumer adoption, or a clearly defined path that connects both. ๐

I understand where youโre coming from, and I genuinely commend you for recognizing this.
It also explains why the Stacks CMO conversation became such a sensitive topic. A great CMO, or several strong ecosystem voices, could have carried the storytelling while you focused on building the technology.
But I think the deeper issue was never only who tells the story. It was whether Stacks had a sufficiently clear story to tell.
What is the mission now?
Is STX primarily the gas and coordination asset for a Bitcoin economy? Is the priority mainly institutional Bitcoin capital and DeFi liquidity? Or is the goal to enable 1,000 businesses and applications that can bring the first 100,000 real users into Bitcoin-powered products?
Those are very different paths, and they require different products, incentives, capital allocation, and messaging.
Stacks has spent years building incredible rails, but rails alone do not create mass adoption. We now need clarity on where the train is going, who it is for, and why people should get on.
So, @muneeb, what is the bold, simple Stacks message you believe the entire ecosystem should be communicating today?

Glad to see the captain back.
Sentiment matters because ecosystems are built by people, not technology alone. Builders can navigate choppy waters when leadership communicates honestly, provides direction, and reminds everyone what we are building toward.
I had begun to lose hope. Now I see new light.
Muneeb, if you are committed to staying at the helm and actively leading Stacks through the next one to two years, I am prepared, and I suspect many other builders are as well, to significantly increase my commitment.
I will begin investing in STX again and dollar-cost averaging at a much more meaningful scale. More importantly, I will direct the development teams behind Stacks Market & WE R GAME toward building DeFi products and other tools that can put that capital to work and contribute to the next generation of successful applications on Stacks.
Leadership creates confidence. Confidence brings back capital, builders, experimentation, and momentum.
The technology is here. Now we need the leadership, story, products, and users to turn it into a thriving Bitcoin economy.
This is the way...
Stacks Market | Information Markets on Stacks retweeted
Infrastructure is the foundation, not the destination.
As builders, we don't just need better rails, we need users. Users create products. Products create businesses. Businesses create jobs. That's ultimately how Bitcoin reaches the mainstream.
Excited for what's ahead. I shared my thoughts on what comes next below. ๐

Upbit (Korea) confirmed that their Stacks network upgrade is already complete!
127 Bitcoin blocks to go. What is this upgrade and why is it imp?
A rambling post โฆ
There have been two major launches in the history of Stacks. The original mainnet launch in 2021 and Nakamoto in 2024.
These resulted in peak STX market of $3 billion and $5 billion respectively. Both hit limitations and fell shy of reaching their full potential. The 2021 Stacks was slow and congested (running at Bitcoin speed of 10-40 mins), and the 2024 Nakamoto still relied on a trusted group of signers. $600M of BTC capital was deposited over it but scaling it to $60 billion+ in BTC capital requires removing trust assumptions.
The Stacks devs, the Princeton-MIT trained scientists, have been quietly preparing a third shot at goal.
So, what is the goal?
Stacks has a simple North Star of being the layer/chain with the most Bitcoin deployed.
We exist to enable a thriving on-chain Bitcoin economy and be the rails on which billions of people use Bitcoin.
This third shot at goal has a name and a timeline. We call it the **Satoshi Upgrades**: a series of three upgrades between now and Bitcoin halving of 2028.
Itโs our best work yet.
Like Elonโs early rockets at SpaceX which came close to getting into orbit but didnโt make it, but then Falcon 1 Flight 4 reached orbit and the rest is history.
Stacks is the most under appreciated and misunderstood, highly ambitious moonshot project in the crypto industry. The recent Binance โrisk monitoring tagโ earns us that honor. Weโve built some of the best tech for a $2T asset, made design decisions optimizing for decades to come, and yet failed on telling our story to the world.
For this, I am responsible.
Iโve been largely away from X for two years (a) dealing with some family/personal stuff which is almost under control now, (b) giving the space to other leaders and Stacks eco to handle comms in a decentralized way.
Iโm back now. And Iโve realized that there is no better way to tell a story than the unfiltered version straight from the founder.
I will be direct. I will be unfiltered and raw. I will tell you why Iโve spent a decade of my life working on Stacks. And why a modern rails like Stacks is what will make Bitcoin the undisputed freedom money of the world.
I will lay out what Bitcoin was meant to be when I joined in 2013. What Satoshi and Bitcoin OGs wanted to accomplish and where we fell short over the years.
This third shot at goal is our Falcon 1 Flight 4. We are 18-19 months away from the next Bitcoin halving. 18 months is typically the runway a startup needs to truly take off.
We will start with Satoshi Upgrades I, bringing native self-custodial Bitcoin staking to market. BTC on BTC yield. The single largest lever to deploy billions of dollars of BTC into a Stacks product.
Itโs the top of the funnel. Self-custodial BTC staking is how we start the fire. The story becomes a lot more interesting after.
Iโve rambled enough for today.
If youโve been a believer and supporter for so many years. First of all, thank you. Second, we will launch this dream into orbit this time, but I will need your support.
Taking Bitcoin and Stacks to billions of people will need your help. You will need to amplify our story. Very few of us currently understand what Satoshi Upgrades are, why do they matter, what is happening in 127 Bitcoin blocks, and why should they care.
Letโs celebrate our small wins in the core community for now. Tomorrow the work starts to bring Stacks to the mainstream. Weโll do this together! LFG ๐

The part of this post that resonated with me the most wasn't the technology, it's the story telling.
One of the central ideas in Sapiens by @harari_yuval is that Homo sapiens didn't become the dominant species because they were individually stronger than Neanderthals, but because they could organize around shared stories & beliefs. Those stories enabled cooperation at a scale no other species could match.
Technology alone rarely changes the world. People rally behind visions, missions & stories.
Over the past few years, Stacks has built incredible technology. Perhaps what we've been missing isn't another protocol upgrade, but a compelling narrative that inspires builders, investors, institutions, and users to believe they're part of something much bigger.
If Muneeb is serious about making storytelling a priority, I believe it could become one of the most important catalysts for the next phase of the ecosystem. THIS is the indicator I will be looking at, not the charts.
Great technology gives people something to build on. Great stories give them a reason to build.
Technology builds platforms. Stories build movements.

I've been investing in & building on Stacks since the early BTC Domains days. Over the years I've advised investment funds, participated heavily in CityCoins, and built products like @StacksMarketApp (native information markets on @Stacks), @BTCMonkeys, @BTCsportsIO, and several others. I've also spent years advocating for the ecosystem because I truly believed Bitcoin deserved more than simply being a store of value.
I'll be honestโthere were times I started losing hope. As builders, we kept pushing products while waiting for the infrastructure to mature, and often it felt like the ecosystem's priorities were centered on protocol development rather than consumer adoption.
Reading this feels different. The Satoshi Upgrades could be the turning point many of us have been waiting for.
That said, I keep thinking about what comes next.
Stacks has spent years building the rails: faster execution, stronger security, removing trust assumptions, unlocking Bitcoin capital, and preparing the infrastructure for institutions, ETFs, hedge funds, and eventually trillions of dollars of Bitcoin.
I completely understand why that comes first. Without world-class infrastructure, nothing lasting can be built.
But as someone who has spent years trying to build consumer applications on Stacks, I also know infrastructure alone doesn't create adoption.
At some point, the next mission has to become the users.
Not just more TVL, but millions of people using Bitcoin applications every day because they solve real problems, or simply because they're enjoyable to use. Great consumer apps. Better UX. Distribution. Builder support. Reasons for people who don't care about crypto to use Bitcoin-powered products.
If the Satoshi Upgrades are the foundation for the next 18โ24 months, what comes after that?
Is there a deliberate strategy to accelerate consumer adoption, or are we expecting the market to naturally build it once the rails are ready?
I don't ask this as a critic. I ask it as someone who genuinely wants Stacks to succeed.
We've built incredible technology for Bitcoin. Now I'd love to see that technology become something the world actually uses.
Excited for what's ahead, and looking forward to helping build the next chapter.
