No elegimos dónde nacemos. Elegimos quiénes queremos ser. Vía @roitele1

One last Picard clip, from “Tapestry.” Gets me every single time. “He learned to play it safe. And he never, ever got noticed by anyone.”
My favorite performance of Patrick Stewart was in the TNG episode "Tapestry". There are some days I look back to this episode for a reminder of overcoming difficulties and harsh truths. I used to beat myself up over bad choices I had made and bad people I associated with. Led me into to conflicts, ruination, and at worst: homelessness. But those were the things that made me into who I was. A lot of people just give up. They might lose their mind or spirit along the way. But you can't ever give those up -they're all you really have. That almost sounds like it could be a cope, but in many cases, that's just how it goes. You have to live to know.

Farewell my Captain... Engage.

Gene Roddenberry initially DIDN’T WANT Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard! In an interview, Stewart recalled how Star Trek producer Robert Justman discovered him performing Shakespeare during a UCLA lecture. Justman turned to his wife and declared, “We found the captain.” But when Stewart met Gene Roddenberry the following morning, the meeting lasted just 10 minutes. After Stewart left, Roddenberry reportedly asked, “Who the hell’s idea was it to invite him?” Justman and Rick Berman eventually convinced Roddenberry to cast Stewart, although Stewart admitted the creator never seemed entirely comfortable with the decision. When Stewart later asked Roddenberry how he should approach Picard, his only advice was to reread the Horatio Hornblower novels. It’s incredible that one of the greatest casting decisions in television history almost never happened. Stewart didn’t just become Captain Picard. He helped redefine what a Star Trek captain could be.

🎉 Happy 66th birthday, @PahlaviReza. 🦁☀️ 🇰🇷 In 1950, my country, South Korea, was nearly destroyed. North Korea invaded with the backing of the Soviet Union and Communist China, and Korea had almost nothing left. Nations from around the world answered the call to help us. Iran was one of them. 🌾 During the Korean War, Iran, under the reign of your father, His Imperial Majesty Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, sent rice and cloth to the Korean people. It was a truly precious gift that came when we had nothing, and we are so thankful for it. Koreans do not forget those who stood with us in our darkest hour. We are deeply grateful to your father and to the people of Iran. 🙏❤️ 💔 Today, Korea is free and prosperous. But the Iranian people, whose nation once helped mine, now live under a theocratic regime that has ruled through fear since 1979. Women are beaten for showing their hair. Protesters and artists have been sentenced to death for speaking out. Young people who simply want freedom are imprisoned, tortured, and executed. This is not the Iran the world once knew, and it is not what the Iranian people deserve. 🔥 As a Korean, I know what it means to live next to a regime that rules by terror, because half of our nation still lives under that same fear and tyranny in North Korea. I also know what freedom can build. I support the Iranian people in their fight for a free and secular Iran, where religion is a personal choice and not a tool of state power. I oppose the Islamist theocracy of the Islamic Republic, which has brought only suffering to its own people and to the region. 🕊️ One day, Iran will be free again. And for that day, we Koreans will stand with the Iranian people, starting now. 🇰🇷🦁☀️ 🙏 From South Korea, we ALWAYS pray for a free Iran and for you and your family. May you always be blessed with good health and peace.🙏🏻❤️ Happy birthday, Your Highness. 👑 🦁☀️ #FreeIran #JavidShah
