What sure what to do with Twitter/X anymore. Mourning a place where I used to be able to find climate-related discourse. Made the jump to BlueSky for now: sarcusa.bsky.social
This was such a fun study to be part of! Using a global compilation of paleoclimate datasets, we looked at instances of abrupt climate change over the past 10k years, eventually focusing on the so called "4.2 ka event". Surprisingly we found no evidence for it! #climatescience
I’m delighted to announce that our paper on the 4.2 ka event, “The 4.2 ka event is not remarkable in the context of Holocene climate variability” was published today in Nature Communications (nature.com/articles/s41467-0…)

Carbon removal permanence is cheap. With a typical discount rate setting aside enough money to repeat the same storage operation every fifty years would raise the cost of storage by less than 10%. #CDR #carbon open.substack.com/pub/carbon…

Life Cycle Analysis (#LCA) is unsuitable for quantitative #carbon_accounting. Why? It is a qualitative tool used for quantitative needs. This is uncomfortable, but it has to be said because it will hinder our ability to reach #NetZero. doi.org/10.1039/D3EE01138K 1/6
But if we expect to know emissions/removals accurately, then LCA is unsuitable. Fortunately, we demonstrate that with the right policy setting and safeguards during the transition, accounting without LCA is possible, and counterproductive technologies can be prevented. 6/6
This study was put together with the help of fantastic current and ex-team members at @ASU_CNCE: Dr. Klaus Lackner, PhD student Vishrudh Sriramprasad, @HabibAzarabadi, and Robert Page.
