Rather than regurgitate the particular wins and losses that occurred Tuesday, I thought it more useful, at this point, to look at the big picture and identify the largest overall winners and losers for the nation as a whole. robertreich.substack.com/p/t…

How to stop an arch!
Newly emboldened Democrats in Congress warn contractors and govt officials that construction on Trump's "triumphal arch" would be illegal and they risk "legal hazard" if they move it forward without congressional authorization. motherjones.com/politics/202…

Big: Kris Kobach, the Kansas attorney general, one of the country’s most notorious far-right figures who charted the way for Trump’s election denialism well before Trump got to it, has lost his reelection bid. Democrat Chris Mann will be new Kansas attorney general, AP calls.

🚨JUST IN: A group of protestors will ask Chuck Schumer and Democrats to REJECT a bill that could fast-track AI data centers. The permitting reform bill is called the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act. Their message? “No Blank Checks for Big Tech.” According to Common Dreams, the bill would speed up permitting for energy projects, including renewable power, transmission lines, and oil and gas pipelines. Food & Water Watch and more than 160 other groups are urging Congress to reject it. Here’s why. When a tech company builds a data center, the local power grid may need expensive upgrades to handle the demand. The groups warn that families could see those costs show up on their electric bills. Environmental and Indigenous rights groups also warn the bill would make it harder for communities to challenge projects in court. The Senate is expected to take a procedural vote Monday, and the bill needs Democratic support to advance. If Big Tech needs a bigger power grid, make THEM pay the damn bill.

Democrats need to be prepared to use a different playbook, one that includes inherent contempt, one that abolishes the 5-minute rule, one that meets this moment because with this pick, the WH is on war-footing.

BREAKING: “HYPER, HYPER MODE”! MTG warns Stephen Miller will unleash an even MORE BRUTAL immigration crackdown as he races the clock before Democrats take control of Congress and start investigating his multitude of crimes! Former MAGA stalwart Marjorie Taylor Greene issued a chilling warning after Trump announced that Miller would replace Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff, while Wiles moves back into Trump's political operation to scheme for 2028. Greene predicted Miller would deliver more of the same infamous policies that have “pissed off and frustrated” all of America – but now turbocharged because he knows the clock is ticking toward a moment of reckoning with the new Congress. Which raises the prospect of an even more intense campaign of ICE raids, detentions and deportations before congressional investigators can begin holding the administration accountable. “This time he's going to go into a hyper, hyper mode because they're about to get investigated in every way possible by the Democrats who are going to control the ... House and Senate committees starting in January of 2027," the former Georgia congresswoman said. But Greene also sees the other part of the shakeup as darkly portentous for the Republican party. Trump sending Wiles back to the political operation, where she began during his wilderness years, is all about his retaining personal control of the party after leaving office. She predicted that any candidate picked by Trump and prepped by Wiles would have “zero chance” in the next election, and promised a “massive network of people” including independents and libertarians, would scrutinize whoever Trump tries to promote. “There will be a massive network of people from this coalition that I consider my coalition that will … analyze every single thing they do,” she said. “They will say that to save America, you have to vote for their candidate, which will be a complete and total lie because they haven't changed anything.” The coalition that elected Trump in 2024 will never stand behind a Trump stooge who, like Trump, doesn’t respect the fundamentals of conservative governance, she said, blaming his broken promises for the Democrats' sweeping midterm victories. It’s really really, really, absolutely disgusting.”
MTG issues a warning over Stephen Miller becoming White House chief of staff. HYPER MODE is where this seems to be going. Which means more stress and headaches thanks to Trump. And it always costs a bunch of money!

It’s marathon season, and we so often celebrate those who finish first. But God, I love this video. The last person to cross the finish line is met with cheers, applause, and a crowd of people who stayed to celebrate them. Because sometimes the greatest victory isn’t finishing first. It’s refusing to give up. Here’s to celebrating grit and guts. Perseverance and persistence. Heart and hope. The indomitable human spirit. May we remember, in the races we run and the challenges we face, that victory is not always about being the fastest or the strongest. Sometimes it’s simply about finding the courage to keep going. And when we see that kind of unconquerable spirit in others, may we cheer them on, lift them up, and celebrate them. May we never give up. And may we never stop encouraging those who refuse to quit. op: @espn
