A statistic that sounds fake but isn't: Not one single white American man born after 1984 has published a work of literary fiction in The New Yorker.
It's not because they stopped writing. It's because The New Yorker has refused to publish them. The publishing industry has blacked out a generation of male writers & then they wonder why boys don't read.
About 70% of publishing professionals are women.
Because agents and editors tend to select books they personally relate to, an increasing number of male authors are being sidelined in the publishing industry, resulting in an overwhelming number of female protagonists on our shelvesβand a dearth of male ones.
No wonder young men are no longer reading.

π¨ Russell Brand is sitting in a cell tonight over claims from up to 22 years ago.
Look at what actually happened.
He faced 7 charges from six women, dating back as far as 1999.
The jury threw out three of them, including two of the three rape counts.
He denied every single one.
What's left are accounts from 2004 to 2009 that nobody took to police at the time.
How does anyone defend themselves against a night from two decades ago?
Memories fade, witnesses scatter, and texts and records disappear.
It ends up being one person's word against another's, in front of a jury that already knows him as the guy the media spent years tearing apart.
And this started only AFTER Brand left the mainstream, started questioning the establishment, and built a huge independent audience.
Coincidence?
If this can happen to him, it can happen to anyone the system decides it doesn't like.
He deserves a full appeal. πΊπΈ

My father is 76. He has never left Japan.

My friend from Texas invited him to stay with his parents in Texas for ten days.

A few days ago, Austin Payne, a 15-year-old White boy in Georgia, was hunted, shot, and left to die in an abandoned apartment by four black teen males.
He called his mom after being attacked and shot, telling her he was dying.
She found his body the next morning after searching all night for him.
Charged with his murder: Jansquincey Donaldson, 15; Omari Marion, 15; Adarious Wallace, 16; Detravion Parker, 22.
National media has been completely silent.
If four White teens had done this to a Black kid, it would dominate cable news for days.
Instead, silence.
They covered the Nolan Wells case wall-to-wall for a drowning.
Yet this kid was hunted like an animal and brutally murdered, and because his skin is White, his story will never be told.
I couldnβt imagine being his mother and getting that call.

Over 60 Muslim men raped Scarlett West from the age of 14.
None have been convicted. Her father stood as Restore Britainβs candidate for Greater Manchester mayor.
There was no national outrage, no wave of arrests, and no accountability.
Russell Brand, by contrast, is facing the full force of the justice system over an allegation involving touching a womanβs breast 15 years ago. If the evidence shows he is a predator, he should be punished.
That is how a functioning system works.
The same system has produced nothing for Scarlett. The men who systematically raped and trafficked her as a child remain free.
This is not an isolated failure. It is a pattern in which certain offenders are pursued relentlessly while others walk amongst us.
Where are the 60 Muslim men who raped a child?
Disgraceful.
