Anthony Albanese is funneling $31.5 MILLION of your hard earned taxpayer dollars into the pockets of friendly, left leaning media outlets to completely eliminate negative coverage.
This isn't public funding, it's a blatant, corrupt payoff disguised as the “News Innovation Fund”
The details of the recent funding decisions highlight significant concerns raised by political opponents:
Critics point out that 54 media outlets are sharing in the $31.5 million News Innovation Fund, while publications known for criticizing the current government claim they were excluded from the package.
The criteria strictly require recipients to be Australian owned and controlled, which effectively barred foreign owned publishers, such as News Corp publications (The Australian, The Daily Telegraph), from applying.
Opposition members argue this choice selectively impacts major Australian newsrooms.
Concerns have been raised regarding wider government grants programs.
Analysis of GrantsConnect data showed that 88% of multicultural funding allocated between 2022-23 and 2025-26 went to electorates held by the government at the time, with 76% awarded through non competitive processes.
Questions have also arisen over a $6 million grant awarded to the Marrickville Golf Club within the Prime Minister's electorate, leading to calls from the opposition for the matter to be reviewed by the National Anti Corruption Commission.

There was a time when misleading Parliament had serious repercussions. Clearly, @AlboMP has committed this over his $6m grant to his mates at his neighbouring golf club. Albanese claimed in the House that it was to fix a 100 year old sewerage issue, however, inconveniently, this was disputed by Public Service boffins who claimed the sewerage issue “was not in the scope of the grant”. The NSW Crown Works Department said in a media release that the sewerage works were being funded by a $270,000 grant from the residents of NSW. It seems Albanese has committed a golfing snowman or has a case of the yips as he tries to dig himself out of this hole. The liar and fraud is at it again.

This is the most obnoxious piece of legislation ever dumped onto the floor of the Federal Parliament.
It is the kind of power grab you would expect from a fascist or communist regime: handing government bureaucrats the authority to build an army of fake sock-puppet accounts to manufacture and pump out official propaganda.
That is not online safety. That is state-sponsored deception.
It’s an international embarrassment to Australia. It has sullied our reputation.
Everyone involved in this grotesque totalitarian scheme has no place in public office.
The eSafety Karen has demonstrated that she is an anti-free speech zealot - a sickening control freak, who wants to control what "the Australians" can hear, see and think - things the First Amendment would prevent her from doing in her home country. She is last person that should be given such powers. Instead should be sacked, and deported on the first plane.
The minister behind it, Anika Wells, is a proven serial rorter of her travel entitlements.
Combined with this bill and her arrogant demeanour, she has shown she is unfit to hold any public office.
