I have a simple question: if Aerith's date isn't canon, then where do people get the information that she is projecting Zack onto Cloud? that "she doesn't actually like Cloud because she only sees Zack in him?"supposedly. That is information you only know if you see Aerith's date, because nowhere else does it appear or give hints that she was comparing them or that "she was seeing Zack instead of Cloud", So, for that argument to hold any weight (and that’s a big "if") you need Aerith's date to be the canon one. And by "canon," I don't mean the only one that exists, but the one you should see, the one most recommended for understanding the story better, because it reveals a lot of important information, unlike the others, which don't really contain crucial details and are just there for the players' enjoyment. (Fan service) I can't believe people haven't realized that every time they say Aerith is only interested in Cloud because of Zack, they are validating Aerith's date and treating it as canon. Because, seriously, where the hell do they get that information? Where else does it appear besides Aerith's date? How do they find out about it if they don't see Aerith's date? Where else does she say or even hint at something like that? How do they reach that conclusion if not by watching Aerith's date?
