Amid continuing fallout a year after Hurricane Melissa wreaked devastation and death in western Jamaica and beyond, we are relieved that four wards at Black River Hospital have been rebuilt and will be formally opened Wednesday (today).
We are at one with chief executive officer at the hospital, Mrs Diana Brown-Miller, who is giving thanks and seeing “light at the end of the tunnel…”

The 911 call is out. The i9 Sports director who called police on the parents of 3 year old soccer star Nevada told the dispatcher it was “not really an emergency,” called Nevada’s mom “unruly,” described her as Black and wearing pink, then begged for officers to “rush” because the family was about to leave in ten minutes. Police say the family was cooperative, was already leaving, and nobody was trespassed or forced off the property. Nevada’s mom says the real issue was other parents complaining about her son’s playing time.
