🎤 After we discuss the genre of the kind of person who reads a thousand books a year, we talk about the slow elevator of sanctification, particularly as it is experienced by us ladies. Can we encourage you to look at it differently than you may have been as we ourselves are in the trenches?

If there’s one thing liars seem to be sure of it is that everyone else is always lying, except for themselves.

Over the weekend, news broke that Samuel Sey had been detained by ICE. The situation remains unresolved, but that hasn’t stopped the internet from doing what the internet does best: speaking loudly about things we don’t fully understand.
Here’s what we know, or at least what has been reported.
Samuel was detained by ICE. A statement attributed to DHS claims that he has been in the country for four years without proper authorization, that there are no pending applications on his behalf, and that he has agreed to voluntary deportation.
His family, however, disputes this account. They maintain that this is a clerical error and that Samuel has not willingly agreed to be deported.
We also know that Samuel has publicly supported ICE and the deportation of illegal immigrants. He is married to an American woman and has children. He has also been involved in some very public theological and political disputes, including debates with men like Corey Mahler and Dale Partridge.
But here’s what we don’t know.
We don’t have the complete picture. We haven’t heard directly from Samuel. We haven’t seen the relevant immigration documents. We don’t know exactly what happened, what paperwork was filed, what may have been missed, or whether the government’s account is accurate.
In other words, we don’t have enough information to render a definitive judgment.
But apparently that doesn’t matter to much of the internet.
I’ve watched people rush to declare Samuel a fraud, a liar, and a hypocrite. I’ve seen people make downright wicked racial statements. I’ve seen people who have opposed him politically or theologically practically salivating over his predicament.
Some are openly gloating. Others are doing that peculiar thing where they insist they aren’t gloating while making it abundantly clear that they’re enjoying every minute of it.
On the other side, I’ve seen people rush to declare him completely innocent, insisting that this is nothing more than a government mix-up. Others are using the situation as another opportunity to attack ICE and their political opponents.
And everyone seems absolutely certain they’re right.
Brothers and sisters, have we forgotten what Scripture says?
“He who gives an answer before he hears, it is folly and shame to him.” — Proverbs 18:13
“The first to plead his case seems right, until another comes and examines him.” — Proverbs 18:17
“When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, but he who restrains his lips is wise.” — Proverbs 10:19
Consider the possibilities.
It could be that Samuel knowingly violated immigration law, misrepresented his situation, and has been dishonest about his status. If that’s the case, then he should be held accountable.
It could also be that the government has made a bureaucratic mess of things, that paperwork was mishandled, or that someone somewhere made an error that has now separated a husband and father from his family.
It could be that the truth lies somewhere between those two possibilities.
The point is that WE DON’T KNOW.
And not knowing something ought to produce a little humility in us before we open our mouths.
But instead, we take a situation involving a real man, a real wife, real children, and potentially serious consequences, and we turn it into ammunition for our endless ideological wars.
Someone we dislike might be suffering? Wonderful! Let’s pile on.
Someone on our political team is in trouble? Let’s immediately declare him innocent and blame our enemies.
Is this really how Christians ought to behave?
Justice requires truth. Righteous judgment requires evidence. And Christian charity requires that we not assume the worst about a brother simply because we dislike his theological or political positions.
If Samuel has broken the law, then let the truth come out and let justice be done. If the government has made a mistake, then let that mistake be corrected quickly. Either way, we should desire truth and justice

Guy came to steam clean my mattress and was like “you have so many things! You do not need so many things. None of it matters in the end.” And I was like. thank you steam clean mattress guy

There are people so deeply unpleasant and entitled that just waking up every day and being themselves carries a type of punishment.

I'm fully aware of how a bill passes. I'm also fully aware that my bill in Louisiana had 2/3 " yes" votes committed after it passed the hearing overwhelmingly. It would have passed the Senate too. We had more support there. It was such an overwhelming "yes" vote, had it passed, the Governor couldn't veto it. However, after the hearing, the week before the official vote, Louisiana Right to Life, Senator Mike Johnson, and over 70 Pro-life organizations asked the House Representatives to vote "no." Because. . . it would lead to the prosecution of women who willfully kill their children in the womb. They stated that women are victims and must not be held responsible.
That's the reason. That's the truth. That's the issue you are avoiding. That's the inconsistency. That's why mothers are protected to kill their children in Louisiana to this day.
It wasn't the Pro-aborts who kept abortion alive and well in Louisiana. It was the Pro-life leaders.
You are wrong. You are clearly uninformed and ignorant on the subject. Your position is the central reason the bills to give equal protection to ALL humans have been thwarted.
These Legislators would protect all children if the Pro-life leaders wanted them to. We've seen it MANY times. The truth is. . . they do not want them to. Because of their commitment to giving legal protection to women who do it.

“Bridget you seem more right wing was there a radicalizing event?”
Yes. As a matter of fact there was.
It is 7:20am and I am the only person in my house awake.
This has quite literally not happened before in this calendar year.
Perhaps not in the previous, either.
My youngest has not once in his life slept this late in the day.
Maybe one of the problems is that too many of us grew up believing Disney Princess movies are fairy tales.
Fairy tales are not princess stories where disobedient adolescents can be horrible to their parents and still get happy endings.
They are terrifying stories adults wrote for children that taught them not to listen to the voices in the woods or to be liars because the witches will get them and the wolves will kill them.
Important lessons. Did we stop giving them because we didn’t want to scare them?
Pregnancy brain went “oh, it’s so nice the little ones are playing quietly.”
Mom brain who has been a mom’ing for a long time jolted me out of my stupor.
There is no playing quietly.
Toddler number one was quiet because he was busily spilling my 1/2 gallon water jug with electrolytes on the couch.
Toddler number two was quiet because he was building a “slide” on the stairs that included coloring on baseboards.
Maybe I’m just impervious to jump scares at this stage of my life.
Incredible. Praying for this family today. ❤️🩹
At the funeral today for Stephen and David Clayton, Stephen’s wife, Katie, spoke—with her jaw wired shut from the accident. Wow. What a testimony. It starts at 38:50 min. on the livestream video here and ends around 1:02:40 (I’m not sure how long the video will be online at this URL): thenorthchurch.com/live/spec…
Ecclesiastes 7:1–4:
A good name is better than precious ointment,
and the day of death than the day of birth.
It is better to go to the house of mourning
than to go to the house of feasting,
for this is the end of all mankind,
and the living will lay it to heart.
Sorrow is better than laughter,
for by sadness of face the heart is made glad.
The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning,
but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.
Exactly right.
Be sure to read my latest article defending abortion abolitionism! ⬇️
“This is fundamentally treating the preborn as lesser than the born, just like the pro-abortion movement does, and this kind of partiality is explicitly forbidden in Scripture.”
Thank you @RachelReneeRee1 for publishing this.
I will share with you my most unapologetic and truly terrible film take.
There just never has been nor will there ever be a better feeling payoff than what was delivered at the end of Endgame. A decade in the making, and they delivered.
I will stand by this opinion fully knowing that it is far too easy to critique.
But yall - your popcorn has never EVER been buttered better than it was in this bag.
“If a movie is harming you, turn it off. If a book is planting unhealthy desires, loyalties, or impulses, chuck it. But stories with darkness in its proper place will only make you stronger.”
