Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.
In 1964, the United States destroyed Brazilian democracy.
João Goulart was the democratically elected president. His crime was a reform agenda:
Eradicate illiteracy. Let the poor and the illiterate vote. Force multinationals to reinvest their profits inside Brazil. And redistribute land from the hereditary landlords to the rural poor.
Schools. Ballots. Land.
Washington called it communism.
JFK's first secretly taped Oval Office meeting — ever — was about Brazil. On that tape he asked: "What kind of liaison do we have with the military?"
A year later: "We've got to do something about Brazil."
Then: "Do you see a situation where we might find it desirable to intervene militarily ourselves?"
He ordered American aid strangled to "put the screws" on Goulart. Robert Kennedy flew to Brasília to deliver the ultimatum in person, telling Goulart he could not criticize the United States "and at the same time get 250 million dollars from the United States. He can't have it both ways."
American aid was never assistance. It was a leash.
The CIA poured millions into opposition parties, newspapers, labor unions and landowner groups. Ambassador Lincoln Gordon drew up contingency plans with "a heavy emphasis on armed intervention."
And here is the part that tells you this was never about security.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, Goulart served as a secret back channel between Kennedy and Castro, helping prevent nuclear war.
Washington overthrew him anyway.
JFK was assassinated before he could act. Johnson did not hesitate.
Three days before the coup, National Security Advisor McGeorge Bundy said: "We should not be worrying that the military will react; we should be worrying that the military will not react."
And in the same meeting: "We don't want to watch Brazil dribble down the drain while we stand around waiting for the next election."
On March 31, 1964, Johnson gave the order: "I think we ought to take every step that we can, be prepared to do everything that we need to do."
The Pentagon launched Operation Brother Sam. The aircraft carrier USS Forrestal, six destroyers, and fuel tankers steamed toward Santos to resupply the coup.
Goulart fled to Uruguay. Washington recognized the junta within 48 hours. The aid resumed like clockwork.
Over 21 years the dictatorship killed or disappeared 434 people, tortured roughly 20,000, and drove tens of thousands into exile.
Brazil did not hold another presidential election for 25 years.
Now look at 2026.
The hereditary landlord class that Washington armed in 1964 is the same landlord class that funded the Bolsonaro dynasty.
Lula wants Brazil's rare earths kept out of Pentagon supply chains. He wants Petrobras to stay public. He wants BRICS to break the dollar's chokehold.
So the empire sent the same weapons, updated.
Fifty percent tariffs instead of a naval task force. Meta censorship instead of CIA cash. AI disinformation instead of paid newspapers.
In 1964 they won. In 2026, 64 million Brazilians voted anyway.
The empire never changed its mind about who owns Latin America.
Latin America simply stopped asking permission.

I live in Michigan, and our airwaves are drowning in this filth. “Disgusting” barely scratches the surface. Smearing Abdul El-Sayed through his faith and ethnicity puts entire Muslim and Arab communities in the crosshairs. These are our neighbors, our families, our children. Their safety should never be the price of somebody’s Senate seat. Every broadcaster taking money to amplify this hatred owes those communities an answer. You don’t get to cash the checks and wash your hands of the consequences

Hasan Piker talked about the devastating news of Sir Patrick Stewart's death. Sir Patrick Stewart was an unapologetic, lifelong socialist. Hasan plays a video of Patrick's scenes from his role in the television show Fall of Eagles, where he played the role of Lenin.

McDonald’s workers in Brazil celebrated new rules that cut the work week from six days to a maximum of five – without a reduction in pay.
Employee Luis Felippe posted a TikTok video of himself reading out an official communication on the changes, the initial phase of which goes into effect on 16 December.
The reform was a key pledge from president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who managed to get it passed shortly before Sunday’s election, which he won despite coming second in the first round of voting.

Make animatic films!
Other than seeing Becky Prim, manga and its comparative simplicity showed me you can make enjoyable films this way. There's a future where people are making and taking animatics as seriously as manga. Very cheap, very accessible form of animated filmmaking.
Made a new video talking about why you should consider storyboards/animatics as final products! Inspired by @kianamaiart, @JazLyte amongst others, I wanted to show another alternative as opposed to making fully animated/polished stuff that takes forever.

The non-working upper class, the rentiers, are far more parasitic on society than the extremely small non-working section of the lower class. It is a major focus of propaganda to convince people that the opposite is the case. Nations aren’t weakened by the small fraction of GDP spent on food stamps, they are weakened by their rentier class. The stronger this class becomes the more it entrenches itself, the more it drains from the real productive economy.
Revolutions disrupt this. They clear out large swaths of the non-productive idle rich. They give opportunities to people of great talent who would otherwise be shut out of the system. This is why the United States, France, Russia and now China became vastly more powerful in the years after their revolutions. It is why all of them became nicer places to live with better metrics for health and education.
It is why China’s prosperity and power today is completely interlinked with Mao’s policies. Deng’s market reforms were all well and good but Mao did the heavy lifting when he cleared out the landlord class. Landlords are parasites. They contribute nothing to society and are in fact a net drain. This has been recognized by classical economists including Adam Smith and David Ricardo.
There is a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth in the west about how China is finally economically powerful enough to choose not to do business with people who insult them. International football clubs worth billions now have to grovel and apologize to China. Good. These are the rewards for power in the international system.
If the West is so terrified of China’s power and of its values then why not emulate the policies that made them so powerful in the first place? If our western values of free speech and association are worth defending then why not clear out the idle class of landlords and rentiers who weaken them and our societies every day?
If we cannot do that then there is no point in complaining. China will supplant us because their economic system works better. And that’s how it should be.

The smear campaign against @AbdulElSayed is a firehose of racism and Islamophobia. I live in Michigan. We’re being hammered with it nonstop. Demonizing one Muslim candidate puts entire communities in the crosshairs. Buying airtime doesn’t sanitize bigotry. It bankrolls it.
Hasan Piker on remaining hopeful that American voters will look past the Islamophobic and racist media smear campaigns and vote for an amazing candidate like Abdul El-Sayed, in the way that they looked past the Islamophobic and racist smears that were hurled at Barack Obama and Zohran Mamdani:
"I think about the fact that seven years after 9/11, America voted for a president whose middle name was 'Hussein,' who was also called a terrorist, Muslim, Arab, fake American.
Then I think about twenty-five years after 9/11, a Muslim, anti-Zionist socialist, 34 years old at the time by the name of Zohran Kwame Mamdani, was elected as the Mayor of New York.
I'm reminded that there's the good and the bad. It's not all bad. Americans do oppose this kind of racialized narrative, this kind of racism. I hope that we will see how big this country truly is and how diverse this country truly is with Abdul El-Sayed's victory in only a couple of days."

“Being left-wing can create a little problems sometimes in the United States, but I would have fun with it! There’s nothing like being at a dinner party in Beverly Hills with fancy guests and telling them you’re a socialist.”

Hasan Piker just admitted, under no pressure btw, that he nutted untouched from looking at the CNN polls that were favoring the Democratic Party for the Senate races:
"We're talking Blichigan. We're talking Blaine. We're talking Blansas and maybe Bloklahoma, Blorida, Blidaho, Blouth Dakota, Blorth Dakota. Fuck it. GUAM." 😭
