MONTEREY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS CONDEMNS DOJ EFFORTS TO INTIMIDATE VOTERS AND ELECTION OFFICIALS! ✊🏽⚖️ Today, our Board of Supervisors condemned the U.S. Department of Justice’s efforts to intimidate voters and election officials through flawed data and unsubstantiated allegations. The DOJ provided a list of 310 people it alleged were potentially ineligible to vote. Yet the vast majority of those named are not even registered voters. This kind of sloppy, irresponsible work undermines public confidence and damages the DOJ’s credibility. In a strongly worded response, our County Counsel rejected demands to disclose confidential voter information and withhold ballots from counting without sufficient evidence or legal authority. The County’s letter makes clear that our Registrar of Voters must follow federal and state law and protect eligible voters from disenfranchisement. We stand firmly behind our Registrar of Voters and the dedicated election workers who safeguard our elections. Monterey County will defend voters’ privacy, protect the right to vote, and pursue legal remedies as necessary.

🚨ICE AGENTS IN SALINAS🚨Several ICE agents remain stationed just outside the back entrance to the Monterey County Jail in Salinas. They are just parked there, and seem to just want to agitate our community. They have been told to leave, but refuse to do so. Community members continue to protest their presence!! We see this as a deliberate effort to intimidate and terrorize our community just before the elections. To ICE, leave our city and county now!! You are not welcome here!! We urge our community members to vote as a means to combat these injustices against our families and communities. We will not be intimidated. Ya Basta! #ICEfuera #SalinasFuerte✊🏽⚖️
