We at Surgeon of Hope appreciate fathers who provide unconditional love, safety and care to their children. We remember and honor all the fathers of the children who have received life-saving heart operations from the skilled hands of our volunteer surgeons.
Your generous donations to Surgeons of Hope make these transformative surgeries possible, giving children like Santiago and Edgar a chance to lead healthy, active lives. Thank you for being a part of our mission and stay tuned for more updates! 📷
And let's remember little Edgar, an infant who received vital surgery from Dr. Glenn. Edgar's congenital heart defect required immediate attention, and we are thrilled to report that his procedure went smoothly. Edgar is now on the path to a healthier future!
Born with a congenital heart defect called Atresia tricuspidea, Santiago faced significant challenges due to his heart valve issue, which left his heart too weak to enjoy childhood activities. Thanks to the incredible support from our donors, Santiago’s surgery was a success!

Understanding the diagnostic journey and timely identification is key to improving lives affected by CHDs.
Unfortunately, in the countries we serve, many people lack access to prenatal screening, and most only discover CHDs when their baby experiences symptoms like turning blue or having difficulty breathing.
Let’s explore the diagnostic methods that play a crucial role in identifying congenital heart diseases (CHDs), which are structural heart issues present from birth. Early detection is a critical factor in improving heart health.
hese artificial valves have saved countless lives by replacing damaged or diseased heart valves, restoring normal blood flow and heart function. Advances in prosthetic valve technology continue to enhance the outcomes for children and adults with CHDs.
Did you know that the development of prosthetic heart valves in the 1960s revolutionized the treatment of congenital heart defects (CHDs)?
But don’t go overboard, as too much of a good thing can be bad for you. And don’t forget to eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and check your blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
