For anyone who would like to hear Mark Carney’s outstanding Davos speech in full here it is. This is what true global leadership looks like.
Canada should be immensely proud today, because they are leading the fight back when others dare not.

On this day in 1980, six American diplomats, travelling with valid Canadian passports, escaped Iran.
They were hidden for months by Canadians, who played a massive role in their escape.
Let's learn the real (not the Argo version) story of The Canadian Caper.

ALT This photo shows a group of people standing behind a barrier, holding up a banner that reads "THANK YOU CANADA." The setting appears to be indoors, possibly at an event or a public gathering. The banner is prominently displayed, and there is a maple leaf symbol on the left side of the image, reinforcing the Canadian theme. The people in the photo seem to be expressing gratitude, likely towards Canada for some form of support or action. The atmosphere looks celebratory or appreciative.

A Canadian water bomber assisting Americans to save their homes in California. We were not asked to go. We want nothing in return. Our crews are there risking their lives because Americans are our neighbours and that is what friends do….help each other in times of need.

I'm announcing that the federal government will cover 100% of the cost of measures to protect lives and property in Southern California for six months.
I’ve told the Governor and officials to spare no expense and do whatever they need to contain the fires and protect families.

The scenes out of California are devastating.
Ontario will always stand ready to serve. I’ve directed officials to send every available water bomber to fight these fires. We’ll provide whatever personnel and equipment is needed and spare no expense to help our closest friends and allies.

There’s a key new iPhone feature in iOS 18 - the latest iPhone update that’s perfect for emergency situations.
It’s called Messages via satellite.
Essentially, with Messages via satellite you can contact friends and family using a satellite connection on your iPhone.
So if cell towers get knocked out, or you lose power and Wi-Fi access, there’s a backup solution available for important communications.
Here is a link that walks people through a very simple upgrade process and how to access: #milton

Inaction, indifference, or silence in the face of this rising tide of hate is a choice.
I choose none of the above. This needs to be contained.
