Swavesey Institute FC

🩵FULL TIME🩵 A much stronger performance from the lads this week! A really tough game, which saw us have a lot less possession and needing to be organised and disciplined defensively from the start. Took an early lead with a good solo run from Coulson, but ended the half 2-1 down. We needed to improve on getting the ball through our midfield and not be as direct, which turned the game round for us in the second half. We played some really good football and went on to equalise with a good strike from Simon. We went down again, but the boys battled hard and we got a deserved equaliser with another goal from in form Coulson, which meant we came away with a good point in the road. A massive improvement in every aspect of our game play and attitude and now we need to build on that in the upcoming weeks 🩵 #UpTheSwavo MOTM - Dan Jackson. Solid for us in the heart of defence, covering a lot of ground and dominating his battles. Got the final assist as he stepped further up the field to bring some quality and link up play to the midfield.

Lots of changes to the squad this week as me look to find some solutions! We have a big group of players all looking for game time, so it’s good to rotate things when we can. These lads have to put their hard work in training in to today’s game and put their mark on this team 💪🩵 #UpTheSwavo

🩵MATCH DAY 7🩵 After a disastrous game Saturday, we’re looking to bounce back! Had a lot of tough games which we’re trying to learn from and improve, but we’re looking for some real fight and determination from the boys! They can turn their season round, but only by being a unit and working harder for each other. Hopefully this week it comes together 💪🩵 come down and support if you can #UpTheSwavo Venue: St Ives Outdoor Sports Complex.

🩵MATCH DAY 6🩵 After a good win on Saturday, we’re trying to build some momentum and take that in to our league form. Playing top of the league will be a huge test, but if we bring the same determination we had last week, we know we can get a result. New venue for this week, get down and support if you can 🩵 #UpTheSwavo Venue: Elsworth Sports & Social Club, The Pavilion, Broad End, Elsworth, Cambridge, CB23 4JD

Yesterdays goals Chris Barrett & Mark Coulson’s two. Unfortunately Simon’s didn’t record.

🩵FULL TIME🩵 A really gritty performance against a good Milton side! 💪 good going forward and constantly putting the opposition under threat. Goals from Pollitt and Baz had us level at the half. A lot to work on, but positives to build on! 2 second half goals from Coulson had us in the lead and the win in site. Boys showed real dedication and fight to keep the opposition out and really earned the win this week. Thompson Swain got MOTM today! Creative in the first 45, but became a solid presence in the second half. All the battles he needed to win, he won! Lots of positives to take in to league action! Time take that opportunity! 🩵💪 #UpTheSwavo

First cup action of the season and we have a strong squad 💪 lots of lads return to the squad and we’re looking to continue being a goal threat and cut out the mistakes. Big test today against a good team, but we’ll be up for the challenge! Come down and support if you can #UpTheSwavo

🩵CUP MATCH🩵 This week we are in cup action for the Creake Charity Shield as we host Milton reserves. We need to bounce back from recent performances and remain in control for the full 90. These lads have shown they’re capable of good football and just need to produce it and go on a good cup run 🩵 #UpTheSwavo Venue: Swavesey Village College Sports Centre. Swavesey, Cambridge, CB24 4RS

🩵FULL TIME🩵 Another crazy scoreline! We get a point on the road, but feel like we chucked the extra 2 points away! Going forward we looked very dangerous getting 4 first half goals, but making 2 clear mistakes to see us lead 4-2 at break. Second half we started strong again and had the game in the bag at 6-3. The mistakes and the lack of game discipline crept in and we looked like a completely different team. Panicking at the back, not switched on, holding on to the ball in key areas and we let 3 in with 15 to go. This group have a lot of work to do and there’s no more taking positives from poor displays! It’s on these boys to tighten things up and remain in good form for the full game. MOTM goes to Mark Coulson with a goal and 2 assists. On another day he could have had 4/5, but he was a constant threat going forward. #UpTheSwavo

Our new depth of squad is coming in handy as this week we have more of the boys out with knocks and some key players away. Gives good opportunity for these lads today to prove themselves and crucially, be the ones to get our first points 💪 flight to Wisbech leaves soon, see you there! #UpTheSwavo

🩵MATCH DAY 5🩵 We take the long trip out to Wisbech this week, on the hunt for points! We have to go back to the football that we played in the first few games and avoid the same embarrassment of last week. Up to the lads to prove it was a blip and put us back on the right track 💪 #UpTheSwavo

This was postponed, but is now being played this Friday 🩵 P.A.Collacott are having a charity football match in honour of our former player Dan Evett. Last year lots of money was raised for MIND charity and this year are set to break that total. Come down and show your support to f you can, there will be a raffle going on with some really good prizes up for grabs 🩵

🩵FULL TIME🩵 We got the result we deserved! Awful! Don’t have any of the fight, desire and quality from previous weeks and got punished for it! Hopefully this is a blip in a long season, but that will be up to the boys! #UpTheSwavo

🩵MATCH DAY 4🩵 This week we are hosting Oakington, hunting for our first points of the season! We’ve played really well and narrowly missed out on what we believe is deserved points. Unfortunately football isn’t always fair and we know we’ve got to cut out mistakes in key areas and take all the points! #UpTheSwavo Venue: Swavesey Village College Sports Centre, Swavesey, Cambridge, CB24 4RS

🩵FULL TIME🩵 Loads of goals, big tackles and both teams leaving it all out in the pitch for the points! Unfortunately for us after battling hard all game we were unable to secure what we believe is an earned point. We’ve shown in each game we don’t quit 💪 after going 3-0 down we brought it back to 3-3, then down again and straight back in to the game at 4-4. Unfortunately we gave away another late goal and our opponents took all the points. As a team we’re playing some really good football, but some mistakes are costing us! We go again, the lads aren’t discouraged and ready to work that bit harder! MOTM was Lucas Lattimer who played like a feisty little pitbull! Work rate was superb getting the team forward and fighting to get the ball back. #UpTheSwavo

A few changes in today’s squad gives us another debut, this time for George Whiting 💪 a big test as we face a good side, but the lads are ready and raring to go! #UpTheSwavo

🩵MATCH DAY 3🩵 This week we are hosting a strong Houghton & Wyton side as we hunt for our first points of the season. 2 games where the lads have shown we can work hard and play good football, but we need to string it together for the whole game! Hoping that this is our week for it all to click and get our season started 💪 #UpTheSwavo Venue: Swavesey Village College Sports Centre, Swavesey, Cambridge, CB24 4RS

🩵FULL TIME🩵 We conceded a slightly light opener, in a period when we looked a bit slow to start. Great recovery by going and getting a goal, which I think kick started the game for us and went on to dominate large periods of the first half, and should have probably come in with another couple of goals. Second half I think we played slightly to direct and started to miss out on the shorter passing plays which led to a lot of attacks in the first half. We got a second goal and we were battling hard, but we made a few key mistakes which ultimately lost us the game. MOTM went to Couls, great work rate to get forward in the first half and got a good goal and narrowly missed out on a couple more. Work rate to get back in the second half was great and put extra effort in for the team. We go again next week to try and secure some much needed points! #UpTheSwavo

Today’s squad to play Burrell see’s Quinny back in to strengthen our defence and a debut for Nunny! A number of changes in other positions, shows our squad depth and it’s on the lads to keep their place in the team 💪🩵 #UpTheSwavo Venue: Burwell Recreation Ground, Hythe Lane, Burwell, Cambridge, CB25 0EZ.

🩵MATCH DAY 2🩵 Back in action after a week off! We’re out to Burwell hoping to cut out the mistakes we made in our first game and build on our positive second half. With new lads in to push the standard, we’re becoming a competitive group, we just need to show this out on the field 💪🩵 #UpTheSwavo Venue: Burwell Recreation Ground, Hythe Lane, Burwell, Cambridge, CB25 0EZ.
