Why do I make fun of South Salt Lake (aka GoatHead City)? One big reason is how it treats Parleys Trail at the S-Line. Not only did the city eliminate the trail between State and Main streets, the signal priority makes clear cars are the priority over any other visitor.

Four years ago, some friends and I made these wayfinding signs to highlight where folks could walk or ride bikes in their neighborhoods. Wayfinding and branding is *not* one of SLC's strong points, and this was a fun and fulfilling bit of tactical urbanism.

People need to keep up the noise about the attempted state takeover of SLC's streets in a coup led by Sen. Wayne Harper and pushed behind the scenes by wealthy real estate investors and other monied interests. Here are some problems with the bill and reasons to oppose it. #utpol

When I say that every cyclist knows the intersection on the 9-Line where a driver injured my wife, I'm not exaggerating. Beyond our personal experiences, @SweetStreetsSLC regularly receives messages like this one (from November) about near-deaths while crossing West Temple #slc

Last week teed of a convergence of two things I can't stand: First, a friend of mine became the latest person I know to get hit by a car in SLC. Second, she was recently laid off and has been actively looking for a new job, so she's facing the wrath of the U.S. medical system (already bad enough) without insurance (even worse). It is insane how GoFundMe has become an informal part of medical care in this country. Consider donating to help Liz cover the insane bills that will head her way soon. gofund.me/acc02c28d

If you’re going to have beg buttons in highly walkable areas, at least make your timing policy not put pedestrians at needless risk. @slcmoves

BREAKING NEWS: The hard work paid off. “All of the reconstruction from 600 North in Salt Lake,” I-15 reconstruction project director Mike Romero said Wednesday, “to about 400 South in Salt Lake has been removed from the project.” sltrib.com/news/2025/08/20/i…

However, more widening is on the way. More work to do.

Bravo @slcmoves for this making this school crossing much safer for students. 👏👏 This is exactly the type of project that wealthy investors are trying to block via SB195. If you want to help push back against anti-safe streets measures, get in touch. sltrib.com/news/education/20…

The idea that a pedestrian should have to scurry across the street so that someone sitting in a recliner with climate control and surround sound can get to their destination one second faster, is completely wack.

Cities are, in fact, dangerous. You know how easy it is to get hit by a car around here?

700 East creates a near impenetrable wall between neighborhoods in Salt Lake City and beyond. Thanks to the work of many people who pushed for the Kensington Avenue Byway, the city and state are now creating a new crossing. The signal should go live soon. Bravo.

🚨🚨ACTION ALERT🚨🚨🚨 This is your LAST CHANCE to speak up in support of Salt Lake City’s efforts to make our streets safer for all users. A dark money group backed by big money is trying to stop the city. SPEAK OUT NOW 🗣️🗣️🗣️ survey123.arcgis.com/share/7…
LAST CHANCE: Wealthy groups are working behind the scenes to try and block SLC from controlling its own streets. This is your last chance to push back and let the state know what you think. Don't let our streets be bought by dark money. survey123.arcgis.com/share/7…

ACTION ALERT: UDOT needs to hear how much you support Salt Lake City's efforts to make its streets safer. The survey was apparently influenced by suburban car commuters. Since these streets are our streets, I urge you to take the survey right now. survey123.arcgis.com/share/7…
