I think I finally get why forecasting real-world events never went mainstream
the idea itself is strong. but almost every product in the space still feels like boomer finance wearing a new skin.
strip it down and it really comes down to three things.
first, nobody wants a terminal built for quants. you shouldn't have to open ten screens just to answer one yes or no question.
second, don't lock people's capital in a coma for weeks. give them a fast loop instead, get in, play the call, get out, move on. dead money is what kills the whole thing.
third, stop burying everything under friction. if it takes someone half an hour to figure out how to open or close a position, they're already gone.
every incumbent nails the concept and then trips over all three.
then I came across @SwipeTheMarket , which is the first one that actually seems to get it. they turned the whole experience into a Tinder-style swipe: right for yes, left for no. no order books, no charts, none of the trading-terminal cosplay. you see a question, you swipe, you move on.
it's the first time the interaction actually matched the way normal people think about whether something will happen or not.
