THIS IS WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO I’ve been dealing with a case over the last couple of days that has genuinely hit me hard. A young man is currently living in a tent with his two dogs. These dogs are not simply pets to him , they are his family, his whole world, and, in his own words, the reason he keeps going. He served in the Army and, since leaving, has suffered with extreme PTSD. Despite everything he is facing, he has refused to give up on his dogs. He contacted charity after charity, desperately trying to find help so that he could keep his family together. Then he contacted us. I didn’t hesitate. Tomorrow, his two beautiful dogs will come into our safe foster care, where they will be warm, fed, loved and protected while we work alongside him to help get his life back on track. But this story goes far beyond the dogs. He hasn’t eaten properly for several days. A local church offered him tea and cake, and all he had with him was a bottle of lemonade. Hearing that absolutely broke me. I have personally sent him money to help with his travel tomorrow, but also so that he can get some proper, nourishing food into himself. We are also giving him advice and support around finding housing. He is a grafter. He is a worker. He is a builder by trade. He isn’t claiming benefits. He feels embarrassed asking for help, but he is also incredibly relieved knowing that his two dogs are going to be safe. This should not be happening. No one who has served their country should find themselves living in a tent, going hungry and feeling that they have nowhere to turn. And no one should have to choose between getting help for themselves and keeping the animals that give them a reason to carry on. We are going to do everything we possibly can to support this man and his dogs. Tomorrow, his dogs will be safe. And hopefully, this is the beginning of a new chapter for all three of them. Please keep them in your thoughts. And please remember that sometimes saving a dog also means helping the human who loves them. dogsonthestreets.org #DogsOnTheStreets #StreetDogs #DogRescue #RescueDogs #Veterans #PTSD #MentalHealthMatters #AnimalRescue #DogsAreFamily #NoOneShouldBeHomeless #TogetherWeCanHelp #RescueIsMoreThanSavingDogs

🚨 PLEASE HELP US KEEP GOING 🚨 I need to be completely honest with you. Dogs on the Streets is struggling financially. The number of people and dogs needing our help has become overwhelming. Every day, another desperate call comes in. Veterinary care. Foster care. Food. Emergency support. And sometimes, simply being there for someone who has nobody else. I just cannot turn them away. But the reality is that we cannot continue without financial support. I am a director of this charity and take zero pay. I am a volunteer, just like so many others who give their time because they care. We don't have a fancy PR team. We don't have paid promoters. We don't have big corporate backing. We are simply people trying to help people and their dogs through some incredibly difficult circumstances. And I am exhausted β€” mentally and physically. Tomorrow I am having scans and tests because of health issues that have started to arise. I know I need to look after myself, but when that phone rings and someone desperately needs help, I struggle to walk away. How do you tell someone who has lost everything that we can't help because the money has run out? I don't want that to happen. We currently believe we have around TWO MONTHS financially to continue providing the level of support that is desperately needed. So today, I am asking you β€” please help us. πŸ™ If you can donate, no matter how small, please do. 🐾 If you can't donate, please share this post. ❀️ If you've ever believed in what Dogs on the Streets stands for, please stand with us now. Your donation could help provide veterinary treatment. It could help keep a dog safely with the person they love. It could help feed someone who is struggling. Or it could simply mean that when someone reaches the end of their tether and picks up the phone, there is still someone there to answer. We need you. Please don't let us have to say, "I'm sorry, we can't help." Donate here:
dogsonthestreets.org Every pound. Every share. Every act of kindness makes a difference. Thank you for standing beside us. 🧑 Michelle xxx

THIS COULD SAVE A LIFE. PLEASE SHARE. Following our post 2 days ago, we wanted to update you. The more we have spoken with the person who reached out to Dogs on the Streets, the more heartbreaking his situation has become. He has been sleeping in his car with his beloved dog since October last year. He reached out to housing services.
He was ignored.
No response.
No help. He reached a point where he genuinely believed he might have to put his beloved dog to sleep because he could see no other way forward. Then he found us. We asked him how he heard about Dogs on the Streets. His answer stopped us in our tracks: I have heard @rickygervais speak about Dogs on the Streets and thought I’d try and see if you can help Ricky, your words have reached someone at the most critical moment of their life. Because you spoke about us, he found the courage to reach out. And we heard him. Vital items have been arranged for his dog.
His dog is coming into our care on 1 September.
With his consent, we are pursuing the services involved and asking why someone in such desperate circumstances was left without the support they needed. This is why awareness matters. You never know who is watching.
You never know who is struggling silently.
You never know whose last bit of hope might be a post they see on their phone. One share could reach someone who thinks there is nowhere left to turn. One share could mean they ask for help. One share could mean a dog doesn't have to die simply because their human has run out of options. And one share could, quite simply, save a life, just like how @rickygervais potentially has and thank you again for all of us that Dogs on the streets πŸ§‘πŸ™
Just had such a very sad conversation with someone who’s been homeless since last October living in the car with their dog. They reached out to us to see if we can help. Our first port of help is to get the Dog into our foster care which we are arranging over the weekend and then we will be supporting the young person with addressing the local council with housing. It’s so heartbreaking to hear so many cases where people feel they have no alternative but to put their dog to sleep I will not permit this not in a million years. πŸ™

The Government has finally confirmed that the all badger culling will end including in the last cull licence area in Cumbria. After 13 years & the slaughter of 250,000 badgers at a public cost of Β£100 million this tragedy is finally over. We must now ensure it never starts again under a new Government in 2029. Well done to everyone who took to the fields marched in the streets and stood outside the Courts to end this this cruel costly madness

Scotland has continued to implement farrowing crates for pig farming, with roughly 25,600 still in operation as of 2025. To make a visual statement against this harmful practice, @humaneworldorg will be taking an animatronic Pig, restricted in a crate, throughout the country. β€œFarmers must end cruel caging, not replace old cages with new ones that would condemn millions more pregnant and lactating pigs to future decades of misery. A cage is a cage, and the public is clear: mother pigs don’t belong behind bars,” says @humaneworldorg. Read More: humaneworld.org/en/news/anim…

Heartbreaking.. 😭 These 4 nestling blackbirds were brought to us still in their nest, after the tree was chopped down and the parents never returned 😞 While gardening, if you find a nest, it is against the law to disturb the nest if it is active. Please stop any work #birds

We love natural supplements here and use them often. Turmeric, for example, is well-known for its ability to reduce inflammation and it can help joint stiffness and pain with conditions such as arthritis and laminitis.
