This is devastating news.
Please pray for Fared, share his fundraiser, and if at all possible please donate what you can to help him raise money for his medical expenses.
Two months after my eye surgery, my doctor told me today that I need several more procedures. It’s difficult news, but I’m doing my best to keep going. Please keep me in your prayers. If you’d like to support me through my treatment journey, the link is below.

Pkk continues to withdraw from its camps in Iraqi Kurdistan - signs that despite recent Kurdish warnings of a standstill in the process, on the ground it continues.
PKK’dan silah bırakmada yeni adım: Mahmur Kampı yakınındaki dağdan çekildi
🔺 PKK, Mahmur kampı yakınlarındaki Karaçok Dağı eteklerindeki 10 askeri noktasını boşalttı.
🔺 Örgüte bağlı silahlı güçlerin kalmadığı bölgedeki eski mevzilere Irak ordusu ve Peşmerge yerleşti.
🔺 Anlaşma kapsamında boşaltılan 10 askeri noktanın 5’i Irak ordusuna, 5’i Peşmerge güçlerine bırakıldı.

Really interesting to read this. He was part of the PKK/YPG group that came to Rojava 2011-2012 to help set up Kurdish control; there long have been rumors that he was called back to Kandil for some misdoings. @SirwanKajjo wrote a good piece on him for Jamestown in 2014.
According Kurdish journalist @hawarhebo99 the founder of the Asayish in northern Syria/Rojava Ciwan Ibrahim was 'martyred' in the mountains of Kurdistan.
For years, he has disappeared from the political scene without any public information.

Growing up in arguably the harshest economic sanctions in recent history and experiencing two full wars (one invasion), I'm pretty good at Doomsday prepping. Offering services if you need help. No charging fee at the moment but 1 ltr of water per hour. Cost could go up.

Nearly two years have passed since the end of the Assad regime, and Syrians are still owed much more than they have been given; that includes communication and explanations on issues that directly affect them. My piece for @SyriaDirect elaborates on this slackness that needlessly frustrates the population.

One of the extraordinary things about US elections – even outside the presidential cycle - is that the world eagerly watches. Having lived for many years overseas, I had so many discussions with shopkeepers, Taxi drivers, ordinary folks in the Middle East and Europe, who actually understood that even US congressional elections matter. To them too, not just us. So here we are once again. With an enormously consequential election. And the world eagerly watches. What way will the US turn? A big check on Trump’s power? Or more MAGA isolationism? Or a mix of both…In 24 hours, we will all know.
