A tribute from Nyaka to Barry Segal At Nyaka, we are deeply saddened by the passing of Barry Segal a visionary, a changemaker, and a beloved friend. For over 20 years, Barry was not just a donor he was family. Through the @SegalFoundation, he stood by Nyaka from the beginning, helping us grow from a single school in rural Uganda into a movement supporting thousands of children, grandmothers, and survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. Barry believed in community-led change. He trusted grassroots leaders and gave generously, not only of his resources but of his heart. His impact reached far beyond Nyaka his philanthropy transformed lives across Africa and the world. He challenged injustice, called out inequality, and used his voice and fortune to fight for those most often forgotten. Even at 90, Barry was still showing up, still dreaming of a better world. His legacy lives on in every classroom, every healed heart, and every child whose future is now filled with hope. To his family, we send our deepest love and gratitude. Barry will always be a part of Nyaka’s story and his light will never dim. Rest in peace, Barry. Your roots are forever part of our forest. With love and remembrance, The Nyaka Family
