glancing over. “she’s all grown up now. she doesn’t need a caregiver anymore.”

[ soft sigh. ] I miss my baby.

brushing up on her galactic basic. she knows much more than she’d let on to that alien, of course. but that doesn’t mean she’s fluent.

idly checking her fingernails.

rummaging for something to eat.

retreating to her room for the night. sniffle.

she starts backing away again, then turns to run.

keeping one eye on the alien, she reaches into her bag to pull out a bottle of water. she pours some onto her hands, wiping the blowback away, then tosses the bottle towards him. “to clean. leave alone now.”

“no basic! not know you!” her face is hard, but she’s starting to feel a little bad…

she stares at him for a few seconds, panting, then starts to back further away. he’s speaking galactic basic. she’ll pretend she doesn’t understand. “go! go away!”

pulling out a bottle and spraying at his face before staggering away from him.

letting out a panicked shriek and trying to jab her elbow into his face.
