Love how Asa Montgomery played on "second tier" AAU circuit and didn't feel pressure to jump to bigger name team. Still got all the big offers, USA Basketball invites, now going to Duke.
Too many kids get sold bill of goods that they need to always be jumping AAU teams.
NEWS: Top-10 senior Asa Montgomery has committed to Duke, giving the Blue Devils a top-10 recruit for the seventh straight recruiting class.
"The Duke visit had a different feeling," he told @PaulBiancardi. "Coach Scheyer kept it real with me. Duke wins, and I can trust him."

It’s hard to blame kids and parents for choosing prep. Most prep programs are already playing in high-level showcases, while traditional high school basketball doesn’t start in many places until November. That’s a big head start.
That time we forced overtime, playing 5-on-3 against a D1 JUCO.
I called a timeout and reminded the team that we practice odd-man scenarios as a program—constantly creating disadvantages, mismatches, and situations where we have to find a way to win. Here’s one of those moments in real time.

Back at it again, year 7! Development and sending kids to college is what we hang our hat on. It’s just what he does! Welcome back National Team Head Coach Brandon Mason! @coach_bmase

Stop telling HS players how to prepare for college while running zone, stacking teams, and avoiding real competition.
You’re not developing college players—you’re protecting your record.
Winning meaningless HS games is easy. Preparing a kid to compete at the next level is the real job.
College coaches know the difference!

High School Coaches & AAU/Club Coaches:
That disappearing act you pull when a family starts holding you accountable—especially after you convinced them to join your program, collected their deposit, and had no real intention of helping them—should honestly be studied!
Accountability shouldn’t be optional once you’ve taken someone’s money and earned their trust.

A lot of people got screwed over being loyal to someone who wasn’t returning the loyalty
