Crypto has a "credibility for sale" problem, and it鈥檚 costing founders their reputations. We analyzed 2,893 press releases over four months to see how the "wire service" machine actually works. The results were worse than we thought: 62% of crypto press releases come from projects flagged as high-risk or outright scams. Here is how the crypto press release distribution industry is laundering reputation.

crypto teams either have too many announcements, or stretch one into three.
Marketing team struggling to keep up the pace of announcements...

Nearly 9 in 10 reporters have written stories that started with a pitch, and over half of them still won't reply to yours, which is not because "manual pitching is dead" but because your entire media strategy is a wire release and a 900-name spreadsheet called "tech journos final v4".

Hevy is a banger app for anyone who goes to the gym and cares about it. > easy to log your sets and routines > great feed showing your friends' sessions using it for every single workout right now. I used to train 5x a week, all disappeared when we had a baby. getting back is the textbook definition of humbling but the app makes it a less of a horrible experience. bonus for the comms nerds at @HevyApp: your subreddit is a 10/10. users are asking and you ship it. every b2c app should take notes. also, this is a call for everyone starting from zero too, join my awkward journey.

if you think letting an grokbot run your tinder is dystopian, wait until you find out who's been writing your favorite founder's "personal reflections" on here for the past couple of years.

LLMs haven't existed for all that long and already human communication, especially on social media, has become distinctly more bland, shallow, and cliche-ridden as people outsource their thoughts to AI. It's one thing to have AI do the things that it does better than humans. The problem is that people are having AI even do things that it DOESN'T do better than humans. That's the most ominous sign.

Eight months ago we showed 62% of crypto press releases come from high risk or scam projects. CoinDesk covered it that week, along many others. we're still seeing coverage of our report, most recently from Forkast. Longer shelf life than any press release in the study.
