Believe it or not - it is not uncommon for people from the Middle East to learn that they are in fact Jewish. When I share my story, I can't tell you how many people tell me they had the same experience.
Their parents or grandparents were forced to flee their homes across the Middle East and/or practice in secret and they didn't want that for their children. So, they just didn't tell us...

In Remembrance of Beirut
#OTD in 1983, a terrorist bombing at the Marine Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, claimed the lives of 241 U.S. service members, including 220 Marines, serving as part of the Multinational Force in Lebanon.
On October 23, a suicide bomber drove a truck laden with explosives into the barracks where U.S. Marines were stationed on a peacekeeping mission. The attack devastated the building and became one of the deadliest days in Marine Corps History.
The Marines in Beirut were deployed to help restore peace and stability amid escalating violence in Lebanon. Despite the dangers they faced, they carried out their mission with courage, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to one another.
The Beirut bombing left a lasting mark on the #MarineCorps and the nation. We remember the lost lives, honor the wounded and survivors, and recognize the families and loved ones who continue to carry the weight of that day. Their sacrifice remains woven into the legacy of every #Marine who has answered the call to serve.
Today, we pause to remember the 241 American service members who never made it home and honor their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty.
They came in peace. They will never be forgotten.

Here's what Americans need to understand: drug trafficking isn't just about drugs crossing our borders. It's about criminal networks quietly moving millions through our banking system. Follow the money, and you expose the organizations financing international crime. #FBI #HomelandSecurity
Case update from @FBIMiamiFL: Ygor Fokin Saviolli, a Brazilian national, was sentenced today to 12 years in prison for his role as a manager and supervisor in a money laundering organization that laundered more than $30 million in illicit proceeds, including the proceeds of drug trafficking.
According to court documents, members of the conspiracy arranged for U.S.-based couriers to receive bulk cash proceeds from the sale of controlled substances and then to deposit the cash at banks across the country in order to conceal and return those profits to, among others, the sources of drug supply operating outside the United States.

@MilesMJohnson article
Much of the evidence of links between Hezbollah and Venezuela dates from Project Cassandra, one of the most comprehensive criminal investigations into the Lebanese group’s international ties. Jack Kelly, a retired agent for the US Drug Enforcement Administration who helped lead its investigation into Hezbollah and organised crime — dubbed “Project Cassandra” — said the agency found evidence that Hezbollah operatives were provided with Venezuelan passports, while Conviasa, Venezuela’s state-owned airline, provided the group with logistical support. Project Cassandra was initiated in 2008 to investigate activities including drug trafficking, weapons smuggling and money laundering. Kelly said that around 2010, the DEA learned of cocaine loads being sent on Conviasa flights to Damascus, as well as large bulk shipments of hard currency.

In Brazil, a car stopped in front of a shop. The driver opened the car door, pushed their pet cat out, and abandoned it in the middle of the road because they no longer wanted it 🥺 💔
Fortunately, Bruna de Paula, who watched the whole thing unfold on the shop’s security camera, immediately adopted the cat and gave it a loving new home ❤️🐈
Bruna shared this touching moment with these meaningful words:
“Everything that begins with sadness turns into love.” ❤️

How did Hezbollah become one of the biggest drug/money laundering cartels in the world? A trade-off for the Iran Nuclear Deal?
In 2006 the DEA and an International Task Force launched a series of operations to hunt down kingpins of Hezbollah’s cocaine trafficking and money laundering conglomerate known as the Business Affairs Component.

Project Cassandra. For years, DEA agents tracked a Hezbollah cocaine and money-laundering network that reached into the United States. According to a 2017 Politico investigation, agents say their cases were stalled by Obama officials while the Iran deal was being negotiated. The administration’s veterans deny it. Read the record and decide.

Project Cassandra Briefing: Unmasking "The System" in Lebanon.
Starting in 2008 Project Cassandra uncovered "The System", a sophisticated criminal enterprise through which organized crime families, Hezbollah, and the IRGC collaborate to launder billions of U.S. dollars annually.
• "The System" functions as a transnational syndicate that integrates drug cartels, diamond smugglers, and arms dealers into a single, high-output financial machine.
• The Spoils: Modeled on Lebanon’s "confessional" power-sharing structure, it co-opts political rivals from all sects—Sunni, Shia, and Christian—to divide criminal profits and ensure the entire ruling class is invested in its continuation.
• Economic Capture: Lebanon’s economy and its banking sector are fundamentally dependent on Hezbollah’s inflows of U.S. dollars to stay afloat, using this illicit capital to underwrite the nation's sovereign debt.
• The Laundering Hubs: Massive quantities of bulk cash from global narcotics trafficking are first deposited into exchange houses, then layered into commercial banks like the Lebanese Canadian Bank to enter the legitimate global economy.
• Sovereign Shield: This arrangement provides Hezbollah and the Iranian regime with a "sovereign shield," granting them the operational security to bypass international sanctions and move funds for proxy wars with impunity.

On May 19, 2024, I helped secure the access he sought in Israel. Israel agreed. The next day, he announced his application for warrants.

Mark Dubowitz, the FDD's chief executive, said: "I've been warning anyone willing to listen: continued Jewish extremist violence in Judea and Samaria will only fuel the growing campaign of economic and financial warfare against Israel. When political power shifts in Washington, the consequences for Israel's economy could be devastating. The Israeli government must act decisively to end this violence. If it lacks the will to do so, the Israeli people must elect a government that does. Israel cannot afford to let a violent minority jeopardize the economic security and future of the entire nation."

I wanted to share an interesting article by Malcolm Gladwell, entitled “America Has a Policing Shortage,” in the Atlantic.
An inconvenient truth! The unofficial motto of the LAPD during the time I served as Chief, according to the current Chief Jim McDonnell, was “too few who for too long have been asked to do too much with too little.” Even the NYPD with 35,000 officers is understaffed by thousands. To have equivalent staffing to the NYPD, LAPD would need 18,000. McDonnell is doing a fantastic job with 8400, I had 9200 when I lead the LAPD. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…
