🤖 Russian propaganda influences AI chatbot responses
In 2024, the Russian network “Pravda” posted at least 207 proven fake stories related to Ukraine in 3.6 million articles, which made their way into leading AI chatbots from Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, xAI, Meta, Anthropic, Mistral, Perplexity, and You.com.
The network spreads disinformation in dozens of languages across different geographical regions.
Out of 150 websites:
– 40 are in Russian, published under domain names targeting specific cities and regions of Ukraine.
– 70 websites are aimed at Europe and use English, French, Czech, Irish, and Finnish.
– 30 websites target countries in Africa, the Pacific, the Middle East, North America, the Caucasus, and Asia.
Chatbots are becoming a primary source of information for people, but AI systems are unable to distinguish truth from disinformation 🤷 #ai #chatgpt #stoprussianpropaganda
