Wife doesn't want to live in Florida, so here are the possible destinations for our scouting road trip in November:
Franklin, TN (area)
Bluffton, SC
Chapin / Lake Murray, SC
Woodstock / Canton, GA
Newnan, GA
Help me narrow down this list to three, or tell me what I've missed.
Good churches (PCA or CREC) are a must. Low taxes. Low crime, etc.
A simple mind can only see black or white.
However:
There is a vast difference between sneaking over the border and botching up your immigration paperwork, or failing to file it in a timely manner.
Samuel Sey, through marriage, had/has a legal right to be here.
Also, yes, he deserves the repercussions of his actions/inaction, but his case is not the same as a border jumper.

When it comes to our own faults, we are very nuanced.
But when it comes to the faults of others, we only see in black and white.
So, we have no denial of the DHS report — and no apology from @JoelWBerry.
In fact, he’s blocked me for asking questions.
I often feel I don’t belong to any camp here, so my views often upset both sides.
This will upset some:
Samuel Sey may not have been a US citizen, but he was a sojourner in the truest sense—not as the Left misuses the term.
If he violated the rules, he should face the consequences, but dehumanizing him or gloating over his suffering makes God your enemy.
Leviticus 19:34: “You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”
To upset the other side:
I don’t like Samuel personally or his attitude toward those who love our nation and wish to preserve its culture.
He is overrated as a Christian thinker, IMO, and I clashed with him years ago on Twitter; he then blocked me, as I recall.
On X, people can’t grasp that two things can be true at once.
They can.
Joel blocked me, so I have to respond like this.
My wife is from England, so we had to go through all of these things. The rules and forms are confusing, so it's not something to play around with.
It doesn't seem likely that Samuel would fly if he knew he did not have a green card, so we wil have to await his reason.
I wonder what type of visa he had? From the brief description it doesn't sound like a K-1 visa (fiance visa). That's the correct one to get if planning on marrying. It gets way more complicated if you enter the US on a tourist visa and then get married and try to adjust status. (I'm not saying that's what happened... Just saying that it is complicated and any shortcuts tend to backfire.)
In two families I know... One American was deported from Canada (married to a Canadian) for getting visa info wrong. Another Canadian/American marriage, and the Canadian was deported from the US.
It is highly unlikely that Samuel Sey would have traveled by air knowing he didn't have legal status.
So, this is probably not deliberate; however, neglecting to comply is still a huge issue, obviously.
If that's the case, perhaps his attorney can get him out on bail.
And if this is in fact the situation, I will give generously to the cause.
