This is the part of American history they want to delete. History is history. We just can't act like it didn't happen.

🧵 57 years ago today.
Me and my mother, #CorettaScottKing, at my father, Rev. Dr. #MartinLutherKingJr’s, funeral service at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.
I’m sharing this thread of photos, not to cause sadness, but to remind us of a cause as critical today as it was then.
The Triple Evils (racism, poverty, and militarism) that my father was working to eradicate still persist.
As a result, families, communities, villages, and nations are mourning at this very moment.
Daddy wasn’t assassinated because he said he wanted his children to be judged “by the content of their character.”
He was gunned down because he was courageously and strategically working to dismantle those Triple Evils.
He was speaking truth to power in government, media, and religion about the Vietnam War, about economic injustice + racial injustice, about ‘The Other America’ (youtu.be/dOWDtDUKz-U), about the violence of the U.S. government.
We can overcome and eradicate persistent evils with persistent, consistent good, as demonstrated by truth and strategic, love-centered, courageous action.
My parents believed.
I believe.

Selena Gomez on immigration issues:
“[This] goes beyond politics and headlines. It is a human issue, affecting real people, dismantling real lives. How we deal with it speaks to our humanity, our empathy, our compassion. How we treat our fellow human beings defines who we are.”

15 years on H1B still waiting for my green card due to discriminatory country quotas. I can’t change where I was born.
I came to the US in 2006 on a student visa. I completed my MPh and went on to complete a Residency & MD. While continuing to work as a physician, I went on to be triple board certified in Urgent care, Occupational medicine & Addition medicine.
I worked in rural America were most American doctors would not work and helped thousands of patients treating addictions, work injuries and infections.
After 19 years of being a doctor, I am still waiting in line for a Green Card. My current wait time is >10 years due to per country limits to be able to be eligible for green card while people who illegally come into the country by crossing the border get a free pass and go ahead of the line to get a green card.
It's crazy that there is so much hate for us Indians that do so much for the health of every day Americans. We never have or never will hurt anyone here and keep working hard despite being treated as trash by both national parties.
I know someday that the people who are currently hating Indians will finally understand how much Indians have contributed to America and also recognize us for what we do for this great country. Until then, we will just shut up and keep doing what we are doing, because that is what we do, no matter what. 😔

one day i woke up and and saw being on h1b in my 40s.
it felt like my life was going in that direction.
it felt sad, hopeless and completely betrayed in trust.
it felt as if the world cheated me for my hardwork.
it felt like the world was corrupt and betrayed me on my truth.
that day, I left h1b. the best decision of life.
I am happy, joyful and in control of my future again.
if you are looking for ways to break out of h1b, dm anytime.
you deserve better. you are the future.

Nearly a million skilled workers and their families in the United States face insecurity, restricted freedom and growth solely due to their country of birth. Prioritizing skilled immigration based on birthplace undermines America's values and potential. That’s why I’ve protested in all 50 states as boldly as I can against this injustice
At @FairAmericaOrg, our mission is to end this discrimination, but we can't do it without your support. Our goal is to reach 5,000 monthly contributors, each giving as little as $10, to enable full-time professionals to drive this mission forward.
Please do your part and share it with others. Link in the comment👇
Ever felt irritated when someone cuts in line at Starbucks or merges in front of you on the highway, skipping ahead while you wait? Now, imagine you've spent years—decades, even—investing in your education, building skills, and contributing to a country. But instead of being rewarded for your hard work, you’re forced to watch others, with less skill, less experience, or less education, get ahead of you.
All because of their country of birth.
This is the reality faced by thousands of high-skilled immigrants in America. It is about time we build a system that values contributions over birthplace.
