Good the government is using Brexit freedoms to take tariffs off some food imports. So why do they want to align more with the EU which would mean higher taxes, a higher carbon price and more tariffs?

So less than 2 days into the pedestrianisation of Oxford street in central London and itβs all going brilliantlyπ€¦ββοΈ large mobs causing trouble, Palestinian chanting groups and a group of weirdos trying out their new βtunesβ on passers by. Add in the bikes riding in and out of people walking and completely ignoring the new rules and Iβd imagine #SadiqKhan is delighted and calling it a roaring success. Mark my words this will not end well.

On March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake tore a 150-meter crater into Japan's Joban Expressway.
In most countries, rebuilding a collapsed four-lane highway after the fourth-largest earthquake in modern history would take two years of committee hearings and contractor disputes.
In Ibaraki Prefecture, Japanese road crews did something that still makes Western civil engineers rub their eyes in disbelief.
Within hours of the main tremor, NEXCO East engineers arrived while deadly aftershocks were still shaking the ground. They did not wait for bureaucracy because this highway was the primary lifeline for emergency ambulances, food trucks, and rescue units heading north into Tohoku.
Working twenty-four hours a day in rotating shifts, crews excavated the shattered embankment, compacted thousands of tons of crushed stone reinforcement in layered stages, and poured fresh asphalt.
Just six days later, on March 17, the gaping chasm was gone. Emergency vehicles were rolling smoothly across crisp white lane lines, and full passenger traffic reopened on March 21.
When a society treats public infrastructure as a sacred promise to its citizens rather than a slow-motion profit center, miracles happen on a Tuesday.

Do people keep voting for these draconian parking policies in local elections, or is it all part of a cross party agenda?

The whole idea of zero emissions has to be scrapped and is complete lunacy to even consider. Scrap all the ideas of zero emissions @UKLabour and scrap all ideas of banning Petrol and Diesel or watch so so many vote away from your party come election time. We need choice not dictatorial policies. Some tasks can NOT be done by electric and are unlikely to be in the near future
"A consultation to βshape [the] pathway to reach zero emission driving by 2035β was opened in August and closes this week. βThe UK is reviewing targets to ensure they remain pro-business & grounded in the real world,β claimed the press release. If only."

I bet Oxford Street will turn into migrant encampment galore. Homelessness has been decriminalised and London is a βsanctuaryβ city. You can pitch a tent anywhere now, including central London.

π¨ Oxford Street pedestrianised and already thereβs confusion.
Footage last night. buses unsure where to go, one turning into Oxford Street as others look on. Diverted routes already adding to congestion.
Looking fwd to rush hour..

This was entirely predictable. Cyclists aren't going to want to waste time and energy diverting down the side streets with all the obstacles and traffic lights. As usual the impact of new travel restrictions hasn't been properly thought through.
Cyclists are continuing to ride along the newly pedestrianised section of Oxford Street, despite being asked to dismount.
Around seven security staff have been stationed near Oxford Circus, calling out to cyclists to get off their bikes, with mixed success.
