In 2005 I was sentenced to the IPP. I wish to share a true insight into my past, present and future experiences of the disgusting sentence and the madness of it

Can anyone recommend a decent prison injury claims solicitor for me please? I was with Jeffries who then turned into express who then passed the case to Nelson's who have refused it as the prison denied responsibility of me breaking my ankle & rupturing 3 ligaments in my ankle

Whole under there care despite all the evidence!? I was denied proper healthcare while inside under their care & only when released I was finally given an x-ray & scans etc before having to have surgery which took a year to recover! Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Completely free man! I was expecting to feel happy but all I've felt is sadness on reflection at all the years this IPP has taken from me. The stress it has caused my family they've been through it all with me. For me today is nothing to celebrate it should of never of happened

It should have been rectified over a decade ago not drawn out for this long. I could see way back in 2006 the IPP wasn't working the system couldn't cope & that everything wasn't in place to implement it nothing changed! At least now I can tell my story without fear!

#justiceforipps #IPPscandal To the 1,800 IPP prisoners that will not have the weight of the IPP licence on their shoulders from today 1st November 2024, we wish you well in trying to rebuild your lives. @JamesTCobbler @ShabanaMahmood you have not only terminated the licence overnight from these IPP prisoners but you also slowly terminated their minds, wellbeing, personality, health, and much more. Dont expect these people to be ok overnight just because the IPP licence is terminated off them. Not all will ever be ok again. This is something that should have been done years ago.

Last night was my last probation meeting! First time I've not had to go again in 24 years to the worst run, sadistic & power tripping organisation I have ever known! It needs investigating & to be reformed to do what it was set out to do. #endIPP

37 days to go until I can talk openly & freely about Probation, parole boards, recall & the prison service without fear of recall after 19 years spent on the torturous IPP sentence!

🚨HUGELY IMPORTANT UPDATE No one should spend 12 years in jail for stealing a mobile phone! I’m backing fresh attempt to resolve the #IPPscandal once &for all by supporting a Private Members’ Bill by Labour peer Lord Woodley for resentencing Let’s end this monumental injustice

Our Open Letter to the HMPPS @hmpps ,Chris Jennings and the Secretary of State for Justice @ShabanaMahmood and prisons minister @JamesTCobbler in this open letter are questions that have never been asked before, that we need urgent answers too. About the IPP Action Plan strategy, they chose the IPP Action Plan strategy over resentencing IPP prisoners! @PeterStefanovi2 @fmspear @Trapped_Pod @SamanthaAsumadu @1roddyRussell

🚨This week saw a hugely important intervention from the UN Special Rapporteur on torture @DrAliceJEdwards who has called on the recently elected UK Government to review the sentences of Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP) prisoners, stressing the need for the remaining IPP prisoners to be resentenced without delay, and for the indeterminate sentence system to be brought to a definitive close. “IPP sentences are inhuman treatment and, in many cases, amount to psychological torture” she says. The #IPPscandal is one of the most shocking, cruel, degrading & monumental injustices of the past half-century - a scandal which has already claimed the lives of 90 people serving IPP sentences in prison and a further 31 that we know of in the community. I cannot overstate the urgency on this - in June one person serving an IPP sentence, a staggering 12 years over tariff set himself alight & another began his second hunger strike. This insanity has got to end. We must now put a stop to this inhumane and indefensible treatment which has absolutely no place in a modern Britain and political leaders previously lacking the courage to take action must now do so Let’s work together @ShabanaMahmood to end this injustice now
🚨 No one should spend 18 yrs in jail for trying to steal a coat or 11 yrs for stealing a mobile phone! I’ve signed a letter calling on new Justice Secretary @ShabanaMahmood to act urgently to end one of the most monumental injustices of the past half-century - the #IPPscandal

Francis Williams rebuilt his life after a 4-year IPP sentence, staying out of trouble for over a decade. But in 2023, he was recalled to prison for being homeless—not for committing any crime. Faced with an indefinite sentence, Francis took his own life. A coroner concluded the IPP sentence caused his death. The IPP is a death sentence!
