Don't look now, but the Blake Harper breakout is officially upon us. Today vs. Memphis:
22 pts
3 reb
4 ast
7-14 FG
5-9 3pt
69.8% TS
Supplementary ball skills, really good at operating on the second side and looks much more comfortable as a permitter threat. Oozing with talent.

Two games in, Blake Harper has been phenomenal for VCU — and I can't remember a Ram getting beat up more in his first two games. Knocked down, gets up, asks for the ball again. That's a Ram. @bharp__ #ThePeppaEffect #LetsGoVCU

Seven of Harper’s buckets here basically at the rim, two and-1 plays. I think finding ways to manufacture easy 2s is how VCU goes from good to great. Think they’ll put teams in foul trouble often and think Harper’s size/skill makes him seem like the leading candidate for that job

Fun stat: Blake Harper ranked 2nd in conference play in fouls drawn per 40, first at Howard as a MEAC ROY, then at Creighton in the Big East. TS% north of 58% both years and that’s a huge reason why. After dropping 30 on JMU, seems like he’ll be chasing all-conference this year.

Yesterday I got a chance to ask VCU Head Coach Phil Martelli jr about the new additions on the rams including DMV native Blake Harper joining the defending champs
