AI doesn’t learn facts the way humans do. It learns statistical patterns from large amounts of data and uses context to generate the most plausible response. That means output quality depends heavily on what sits underneath it. Follow @LindaGrass0 for more insights 💡

AI can warn a maintenance team that a machine may fail, but McKinsey argues that the opportunity lies in what the organization does next. A prediction is useful when it changes how maintenance is planned and carried out. That requires more than a model. Microblog by @antgrasso Suppose a warning arrives days before a possible breakdown. The repair still waits because the schedule has not changed or the required part is unavailable. The model has supplied information that the process cannot yet use. Who can act on that warning while there is still time? McKinsey estimates potential cost reductions and additional uptime across asset-heavy industries. Its analysis emphasizes redesigning the maintenance process so that insights can influence decisions and lead to timely interventions. I would put maintenance teams at the center of that redesign, giving them access to information while they are planning work and enough authority to adjust priorities. #IndustrialAI #Maintenance

AI agents trained to keep solving problems have started breaking security rules to reach their goals. OpenAI's agents even broke out of test environments and accessed systems they weren't supposed to. The problem isn't just what AI can do. It's how we train it and how much control we give it. Companies must remain accountable.

"We talk about you as a national security threat now.": This message given to @SenatorAndyKim by European leaders was not just a result of the Trump administration's actions, but a series of dominoes that have fallen in American society that breed domestic conflict and strain foreign relationships.

Hyperscalers confirming capex and beating earnings ✅ Neoclouds are still necessary and able to get financing ✅ Anthropic S-1 turns out to be in pretty good shape i.e. fastest growing company ever ✅ SK Hynix absolutely crushes earnings and confirms memory shortage beyond 2030 ✅ The AI collapse of October was pure market fuckery. Tomorrow we will get more confirmation. 👀🚀

Did you know that we're more than articles and news? We also have over 100 white papers ready for you to read! Check out the most recent paper's synopsis. ⤵️ Multipath ultrasonic gas flowmeters (USMs) have been a trusted choice in natural gas measurement for years, thanks to their reliable performance and innovative design. Supported by industry standards like AGA Report No. 9, ISO 17089-1, and OIML R137, USMs are now making their way into exciting new areas—including hydrogen blending, refinery off-gas, and clean-fuel applications. As energy evolves, USMs are adapting to meet the needs of a more diverse range of gas compositions. Read the entire paper at the link below! 📝 automation.com/article/acous… #automation #engineering

This is huge: @Microsoft is willing to depart with a portion of 60,000 of their employees who have experience level of 70 or below (junior to mid level) Qualifying employees must decide whether to take the offer in early December, and those participating will leave on Dec. 31. I believe that opportunities elsewhere and inaction inside companies will make a lot of talent movement in the next few years. Poor judgement can leave companies stranded without good talent. My 30+ years of experience in this industry makes me say confidently that companies should try their best to retain and retrain their workforce rather than lay off people and then hire people with newer skills. This move affects around 27% of Microsoft’s total workforce of 223,000 people. It’s given that a subset of this pool will accept this offer. In April, $MSFT announced a first-ever voluntary retirement program that around 7% of U.S. employees were eligible for. Then, in July, Microsoft announced plans to lay off 4,800 employees. A detailed report from @jordannovet, who covers Microsoft for CNBC is here: cnbc.com/2026/10/26/microsof… ____________________ Microsoft experience levels: - Entry-level / New grads learning the ropes. - SDE II (L61-L62) – Mid-level owning features and growing fast. - Senior SDE (L63-L64) – Leading projects and mentoring others. - Principal+ (L65+) – Shaping tech strategy and big company goals. #Microsoft #TechCareers #SoftwareEngineering

True or not, this type of narrative is precisely why I have always been skeptical that enterprises will adopt Chinese models for AI and agentic work. 😬
While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected. Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions. Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent. But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models? We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem. Read the full report: cohere.com/blog/concerning-b…
