I’m a firm believer of never building a roster that fits a coach’s style of play. You find a coach who can get the most out of the type of roster you have.
Looks like for tonight Toc will be mixing up the lines..
• Mich & Martone back together
• Foerster top line with TK
• Zegras and Tip together
Possibly a top 9 like this:
Foerster - Dvo - TK
Zegras - Knuble - Tippett
Martone - Cates - Michkov
#LetsGoFlyers
Toc split up Martone and Michkov, gave Mich under 16 minutes with Tyson and Cates on the 3rd line… and Martone gets 11:51 (an entire minute less than Acciari)
#LetsGoFlyers
- Michkov buried with Cates & Tyson
- Knuble 2C
- Benoit yet again benching Jiricek
Get this dude out of my city
I’ll be out by then
"What I can tell you is Danny Briere really likes him [Snowden]... it wouldn't at all shock me...if their pie in the sky plan is Tocchet coaches for a bit longer...does a good job, then retires, and Snowden after 4-5 years in the AHL comes up and takes over the job as Tocchet becomes a senior advisor akin to Bobby Clarke." 👀
My last straw with this front office would be heading into the offseason with Tocchet as head coach. And I was one of the biggest Danny believers for a long time
Lines at practice today:
Zegras-Dvorak-Konecny
Martone-Knuble-Tippett
Foerster-Cates-Michkov
Barkey-Couturier-Acciari
Absolutely horrible that Tocchet is taking Martone away from Michkov, and burying Mich on 3rd line with Foerster and Cates.
Let’s see it Tocchet…
Zegras - Dvo - Michkov
Konecny - Cates - Martone
Foerster - Barkey - Tippett
Acciari - Coots - Knuble
Who would have thought three years into Michkov’s NHL career the best center he was given is still Morgan Frost.
Looking back it was a poor decision to dump a 40-45 point center when the alternative is rolling out Dvo, Coots, Cates
Two most frustrating parts of the Cutter situation is that
1) we never commit to rebuilding and one of the two years we get a premium pick, we lose an elite prospect
2) we all know he wouldn’t be doing this as a Flyer right now
This season there are 11 forwards with 10+ goals so far.
Out of those 11, Michkov is the only one under 16:30 TOI/GP… He’s currently at 15:52 TOI/GP
The rest on average fall between 18-21 minutes per game.
Michkov is top 5 in the NHL for goals/60
#LetsGoFlyers
Over the past 10 seasons, 106 players have scored 10+ goals in their team’s first 16 games.
Michkov ranks 105th out of 106 in ATOI among those players.
The avg ATOI for those players was 19:41.
The median ATOI for those players was 19:38.
For the curious, #106 is Andrew Mangiapane on the 2021-22 Flames.
