Jacory Croskey-Merritt knew the question was coming. “The fumble. Go ahead.” Josh Conerly Jr. recovered it — “He saved me” — but Bill didn’t play another snap. Dan Quinn explained the decision. Bill, in his usual upbeat way, told me how he’ll respond. lastmanstandig.substack.com/…

On Daronte Jones’ journey. Sleeping in his car (with his Python!); homeless a couple more times. Nearly quit coaching twice. And now he’s here. “It was like, 'Is it ever going to end?'" Jones said. "I was like, 'Maybe it's not for me.'" espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/4982…

On Odafe Oweh: Dan Quinn said he won't practice today but he's "making a lot of progress. As we get into next week, thrilled he's making this kind of progress to get ready." Did not say he'll play in the opener, but will know more when he returns.

Dan Quinn said he wasn’t crazy about some of what he saw Saturday but said changing to a practice today “wasn’t a knee-jerk reaction to that.” Wanted more reps/work this week leading into the joint practice.
