But Soph was more than just her achievements, she was compassionate and silly, she always had time for long yarns about anything from politics to good hiking trips. She was a phenomenal friend, an amazing colleague, a hard worker and the fiercest ally. She will be greatly missed.

Just for some context, in the past two years @ZiziAverill and I have written 60,000+ words on NT Youth Detention, predominantly #Dondale and #Spithoods. In Feb 2022 we were given this letter from an 11-yr-old locked up in Don Dale. – at Darwin, Northern Territory

The extraordinary refusal of NSW prisons & Qld mental health facilities to allow @UN #torture inspection seems all the more reason for 🇦🇺 “justice” & #mentalhealth systems to be under #humanrights scrutiny

Police body worn cameras were introduced in Victoria with an aim of improving accountability and transparency. Four years later, it has become clear that they have failed to do this. My story for @crikey_news: crikey.com.au/2022/09/07/vic…

Wearing pink for my sister Tanya Day, as I prepare for my cousins funeral tomorrow who died in custody. Implementing the #RCADiC is a matter of National urgency, to prevent First Nations people from dying in custody in the first place.

There is a push for a formally registered union to represent the rights of Australian prisoners and ensure that human rights are upheld in prisons. Prisoners currently do not have access to any OH&S standards or compensation, despite working in prison. thejusticemap.substack.com/p…
