ALT Walking between home and studio, home and school. The seasons changing quickly. A discarded sleeping bag in an underpass. An old family album snapshot. Half understood graffiti tags. A screwed up discarded photograph. Being boiled…

ALT I’m thinking back to my photographs from THE DRIFT… Double exposed 35mm. Places melded together, half frames, over or under exposed… Looking for connections. A hook… The Rest is Noise. Englands Dreaming… (Alex Ross, Jon Savage).

ALT Really excited to see it on that scale and at that volume, again! This was a big challenge I set myself. It really helped (massively) being paired up with a band and a song that resonated. Plus Kelly and Paul are such great chaps to work with! We’ve already had a tentative chat about further collaborations… I’ve provided the photography for the sleeve cover of a new song of theirs called ‘Old Wounds’.

ALT And as a consequence of doing this film, I’d be very interested in making more films for bands, musicians… Perhaps pop along this evening from 8.15pm…

ALT Big shout out to Rob Speranza for encouraging me to ‘have a go’ (and for organising this monster project #2Weeks2MakeIt ) and for showcasing it this evening as part of Showroom Shorts. And a special mention to Catherine for acting as a sounding board and critic (resulting in a number of crucial re-edits). Yes, having the singer lip syncing was very integral!

ALT What Paul and Kelly didn’t know is that I had lots of unused footage… I filmed myself ‘dancing’ (ahem) to the song dressed as some of my ‘alter ego’ characters…
