The lab for Africa's creator economy. We dissect | the business | the money | the politics of creating, so you build a career, not just content.

Welcome to Prime.labs. Here's what we're digging into: - The deals you're not getting - The money you're leaving on the table - The systems nobody taught you, and the wins worth studying.

Unpopular opinion: We need new language. The word "creator" used to mean: someone who makes content online. The word "entrepreneur" used to mean: someone who builds and runs a business. Both definitions are dying. The creators who are winning right now aren't just making content. They're creating businesses - product lines, communities, media companies, SaaS tools, agencies, brands with real enterprise value. MrBeast didn't build a YouTube channel. He built a conglomerate. Emma Chamberlain didn't stay a vlogger. She built a coffee company. Ali Abdaal didn't keep making study videos. He built a multi-million-pound education business. And on the other side - the entrepreneurs who are winning aren't just running companies. They're becoming creators. Alex Hormozi is a private equity guy who became one of the biggest creators on the internet. Sara Blakely built Spanx into a billion-dollar brand partly through personal storytelling. Marc Benioff has been the face and voice of Salesforce for decades. The pattern is clear: the line between creator and entrepreneur is gone. The future isn't "creators" OR "entrepreneurs." It's a new category. Creator-entrepreneurs. People who use storytelling as a distribution engine and business infrastructure as a value engine. This is the thesis behind everything we build at Jali. Here’s a clue into what we’re building: Imagine where creators have the capacity and opportunities to build profitable businesses making them $10k/m at the very least. Imagine where founders never have to worry about visibility and customer acquisition. Imagine a creator-entrepreneur who owns both their narrative and their business. I didn't invent this category. The market is creating it in real time. But I am building the ecosystem that serves it. And if you're reading this; creator, founder — you're probably already one foot across the bridge. The question is whether you're going to fully commit to the other side. If you’re anticipating what this is and it sounds exciting to you, comment “LOCKED IN” This is Day 5 of #buildingmycreatorbusinessinpublic

Human capital is the foundation of a thriving economy. Before we talk about wealth, infrastructure, or innovation, we must first talk about the quality of the people responsible for building them.

This isn't hype. It's the unglamorous stuff that actually builds a career. - contracts - pricing - ownership - platforms - and the politics shaping the industry.

This piece says alot and it gives just the right type of knowledge creators and entrepreneurs need. Let's find a way to bring awareness to creators, who haven't built a structure or are finding it difficult to build a structure around the audience they've grown.
The creator economy is worth over $250 billion. Yet most creators can't pay their rent. Let that contradiction sit with you for a second. We've built an entire industry around helping people get followers, go viral, hack the algorithm. And the result? An economy where 97% of creators earn less than minimum wage. That's not a creator problem. That's a structural problem. The real issue: The creator economy taught people how to build audiences. It never taught them how to build businesses. There's a massive difference between those two things. An audience is rented. You don't own the algorithm. You don't own the platform. One policy change, one shadowban, one shift in the recommendation engine and everything you built disappears overnight. I’ve seen many popular pages disappear into thin air after many years of viral moments. A business is owned. Revenue systems. Products. IP. Community infrastructure. Things that compound whether or not you post today. I know this because I lived it. I grew to thousands of followers and felt successful. The numbers were going up. The engagement was real. People were watching. But behind the scenes my business model was shaky. No product ecosystem. No recurring revenue. I was a creator with an audience and the wrong architecture underneath it. The moment I shifted from "how do I grow?" to "how do I build?" everything changed. We put the architecture in place ( which will be relaunched some time in this 30 day series ) That shift is what's missing for most creators right now. And it's also what's missing for most entrepreneurs who are trying to figure out content. Entrepreneurs look at the creator world and see chaos - people posting selfies and getting paid for it. Creators look at the business world and see boring suits talking about systems. Both are wrong. Both are missing the same thing. The future belongs to the people who can do both. Create AND build. Tell stories AND build systems. Attract attention AND convert it into something real. Now that’s not just a creator. That's not just an entrepreneur. That's something new. And we need new language and new infrastructure for it. That's what we're building at Jali. The ecosystem for the creator-entrepreneur. This is DAY 2 of #BuildingMyCreatorBusinessInPublic See you on Day 3.
