Hardware analyst The Phawx has shared new technical specifications regarding the upcoming portable consoles from Microsoft and Sony. According to his latest report on the Nerd Nest podcast, Microsoft specifically funded a custom high end variant of the AMD Medusa processor featuring Zen 6c CPU cores for its Xbox Helix handheld system.
The portable Xbox Helix console will integrate an RDNA 5 graphics processor equipped with 24 compute units. Meanwhile, the competing PSP 3 Handheld from Sony will reportedly utilize the same Zen 6c processor architecture paired with only 16 RDNA 5 compute units.
This hardware configuration gives the Microsoft handheld 50% more graphics compute units, making the system significantly more powerful than the Sony portable console at higher power limits.
