Two Christians. Two different answers on Halloween. Both are grounded in Scripture. One points to 1 Corinthians 8 through 10 and Christian freedom. The other points to Romans 12 and Ephesians 6 and asks what our kids are learning to enjoy. Where do you land? Have you ever quoted a Bible verse only to discover later that it meant something different in context? It happens easily. A familiar verse can sound encouraging on its own, but Scripture was not written as a collection of isolated sayings. The surrounding passage, the larger book, and the Bible’s overall story all help us understand what a verse actually means. Emily Richardson walks through five commonly twisted Scriptures, renew.org/twisted-scriptures…

What does it really mean to walk by faith, not by sight? It does not mean ignoring reality, turning off our minds, or withdrawing from the people and problems around us. Daniel McCoy points us back to the context of 2 Corinthians 5:7. Paul describes a life marked by hardship, confidence in God, an eternal perspective, and active engagement with others. renew.org/walk-by-faith-not-…

Why does betrayal hurt so deeply? Betrayal usually comes through a relationship where trust already existed. The person who wounds us is often someone we welcomed close enough to do real damage. Scripture gives us sobering examples. renew.org/betrayal-in-the-bi…

What if renewal doesn’t begin with reaching the masses? A crowd is not the same thing as spiritual hunger. The deeper question is whether we are becoming people who genuinely desire God and faithfully follow Jesus. God’s work of renewal begins deeper than numbers. It begins in disciples whose hearts are turned toward Him. youtu.be/uhJpB_6pWzo

Do we have to prove that God exists before belief in him is reasonable? In this conversation, Bobby Harrington points to Romans 1 and argues that belief in God is not something people begin with only after working through a scientific proof. The biblical picture is that creation itself bears witness to God and that people have an innate awareness of him. That does not mean questions, evidence, or apologetics are unimportant. They can help us think carefully and respond to objections. But they are not the starting point Scripture gives us. The starting point is that God has made himself known. youtu.be/xVEey2wJ4Ns

What should a church do when someone’s marriage situation does not align with the teachings of Jesus? Some churches emphasize biblical truth without building the relationships needed to help people follow Jesus. Others emphasize welcome and compassion while avoiding difficult teachings about marriage, divorce, repentance, and obedience. Bobby Harrington calls Christians to hold conviction and compassion together. renew.org/what-does-the-bibl…

Church revitalization rarely moves as quickly as our vision does. Paul Huyghebaert reflects on the patient work of renewing an existing church: earning trust, listening carefully, rebuilding healthy rhythms, and allowing meaningful change to take root over time. That kind of ministry may not be flashy, but it can help a congregation rediscover its mission and reclaim its gospel witness in the community. renew.org/the-church-needs-r…"

What happens when kids are left to build their identity on their own? Jordan Arnold puts it plainly: “If you don't disciple your kids, you're also sentencing them to a life of self-invention because we're made in God's image.” youtu.be/xVEey2wJ4Ns
