“In Her Daughters’ Mother, Chukwu returns to the vulnerabilities and agency of society’s marginalised, this time turning her lens to womanhood, through a woman and her daughters whose lives depend on the favour of men.”

Again yes, Zanzibar has pristine beaches and beautiful turquoise waters, but it also has real homes and every day lives. Everywhere doesn’t look like a luxury resort.
We should be more mindful. These are people’s homes, not just backdrops for your instagram dump.

@ChuGailx's #HerDaughtersMother is a SOLID feature debut.
Using the early 2000s Warri crisis as a backdrop, it interrogates motherhood and women's choices, with a brilliant performance by @ejosobas.
I loved the film's pristine editing and colourful deployment of language.

Oh this means plenty to me! Thank you so much, ma’am! 🥹❤️
Congrats to the entire team that worked on #HerMothersDaughter, but i need to specially mention Ejovwoke Obas- such a vulnerable and true performance!!! Also, Osas Okonyon, without saying much did great character work. A round applause for the entire cast.

When I say I’ve not met a man who genuinely liked me, this is what I mean. And I’ll never settle for a love that isn’t sure.
i like a man who actually LIKES me. not just a man who wants to sleep with me, claim me, or keep me from dealing with somebody else. i’m talking about a man who genuinely enjoys my company, wants to hear my voice, remembers the little things i tell him, and makes plans with me without me having to beg. because some men will swear up and down they love you but act like spending time with you is a chore. baby i don’t want to be somebody’s responsibility, i want to be somebody’s FAVORITE person.
