How does the Bridle Path home invasion compare with other Toronto-area cases? In May, York Regional Police say armed intruders entered a Vaughan home around 4:45 a.m., woke the homeowners and demanded cash, jewelry and the keys to a Lamborghini. Police say they fled in the vehicle. In August, Toronto police say three suspects forced their way into an occupied apartment around 9:39 p.m. after one posed as a delivery worker. Police say luxury items were taken. In the October 29 Bridle Path case, Toronto police say three armed intruders entered David Morton’s home before dawn, went upstairs and demanded valuables. Morton and his two adult daughters were shot, and his wife was also injured. Police have not said whether anything was taken. The cases show that alleged robberies of occupied homes can happen at different hours and involve demands for property. The Bridle Path attack stands out for the severity of the reported injuries. Police say they have no evidence so far that the Morton family was specifically targeted. The investigation continues, and the allegations remain unproven in court. #BridlePath #Toronto #TorontoCrime #HomeInvasion #PublicSafety

UPDATE — NO INDICTMENT IN THE DEATH OF 10-MONTH-OLD SCOTTIE CROWELL A Hopkins County grand jury has decided not to indict Dr. Stacey Fazenbaker in connection with the hot-car death of her granddaughter, 10-month-old Scottie Crowell. Scottie died on August 13 after police say her grandmother was supposed to take her to daycare but instead drove to work, unintentionally leaving the baby inside the vehicle for hours. The grand jury reviewed the police investigation on October 27 and returned a “no true bill,” finding insufficient probable cause to bring criminal charges. Because grand-jury proceedings are confidential, officials have not publicly explained which evidence led to the decision. Detailed autopsy findings and the results of the grandmother’s blood test have also not been publicly disclosed. A decision not to indict does not change what happened to Scottie. It means only that the grand jury concluded the available evidence did not meet the legal threshold for criminal prosecution. Kentucky also still does not appear to require childcare providers to contact parents immediately when an expected child fails to arrive. Rest peacefully, sweet Scottie. You deserved a lifetime. 💔
