In samples obtained from persons who had received the mRNA-1273 or BNT162b2 vaccines, neutralizing antibody titers against the B.1.617.1 variant were 6.8 times lower than those against the WA1/2020 variant, and titers against the B.1.617.2 variant were 2.9 times lower. #COVID19

This Cabinet Secretary keeps on blaming his own people. Nun una staff daw nya nagpasipa sa isang magaling na pinuno ng isang ahensya sa ilalim niya. Ngayon, mga tao ulit niya dahil babagal daw. Napagalitan tuloy ni PRRD. Not a leader, no admin skills, no command responsibility.

The president is reportedly scouting for a new DOH secretary. One reporter asked if I have somebody in mind, I told her there are many among the 170,000 licensed physicians in the country who may be more honest and competent.

Testing is important. But ISOLATION needs to happen for suspected cases BEFORE testing is done or results are back, and should continue for PROBABLE cases even if testing results are negative. Testing is PART of the solution, isolation is the KEY. #COVID19 esquiremag.ph/politics/opini…

In mild disease, there is evidence that residual shedding of viable virus is done by the 8th day. RT-PCR will continue to be positive up to 3 weeks BUT it is just the dead/nonviable viral genetic material that is being detected. Shedding viral PIECES is different from live virus.

IMHO, you don’t necessarily need a doctor to head the DOH. The Secretary can get excellent doctora to give him advice. What the Dep’t. needs is a good manager to manage personnel, resources and supplies. A good communicator to be able to convey the message to the public. (1/2)

I wouldn't call it a second wave. That's still within reasonable variation and taking into account the increased testing. Yes these are mostly transmissions from 2 weeks ago. Also, if we relaxed ECQ a bit, it will take 2 weeks to see if its surging so it has to be done slowly.

207 cases. Staying steady at about 200 cases per day. Despite increased testing. It isn't perfect but it is encouraging. Doubling time is ~14 days vs. 3 days between March 28-30. Remember ECQ effect is on a 2-week delay due to up to 14 day incubation. ECQ is working. #COVID19

Thats a bad idea because asymptomatics have low viral loads - high false negative. You also need to confirm hospitalized patients so you can cohort them and save PPE.
