People need to understand many professional artists do not list their services for private clients, many of us work for corporations only. Recruiters and artdirectors look on socialmedia, many of us get jobs this way. Not everything is for you, assuming it is is the first mistake

That parallel is all the more striking to me as I'm also in the legal field: I barely see anyone dispute legal rates It's a long-held observation of mine that artists are the target of a particularly rampant amount of condescension that strikes as extremely classist

It's interesting how artists are the only ones that get shit for pricing their labor, time, experience & independent business expenses (taxes, health insurance, office space & equipment) high. If prices are too high they will lower it. No one's entitled to other peoples work.

Worthy of mention: I use the term "artist" in a broad sense: creative professions at large, including illustrators, always have to justify making ends meet I think a lot of people don't visualise the amount of hours put into painting, but also preparing and exchanging

A lot of commission rates you might see online that do not meet the typical industry ones (which are much more representative of the amount of work put into a piece) amount to pretty abysmal rates, as low as cents per hour Would you work your job for 50 cents an hour ?
